LANCASTER DRAGWAY RAINED OUT FOR SEPTEMBER 6

LANCASTER, NY – Late afternoon rain showers rolled through the Western New York, and soaked the grounds of New York International Raceway Park, which forced track officials to cancel IHRA Drag Racing for Friday, September 6.

The amount of rain combined with less than optimal conditions for getting the track dry in a reasonable amount of time let to the decision to pull the chute on the program.

Lancaster Dragway will decide on a reschedule date for the Ryan Thurnherr Memorial Night and Gianni Maiza’s Mod ET Bonus Night in the coming days.

Weekly IHRA Drag Racing will take place next week on Thursday, September 12 with VIP Night. All weekly classes will be in action. Time trials start at 5 p.m.

Next weekend, Lancaster Speedway @ New York International Raceway Park hosts the 31st annual U.S. Open weekend. The action starts Friday with practice and the postponed Tommy Druar/Tony Jankowiak Memorial Modified 110. Saturday night is headlined by the Joe Reilly Crown Royale Classic 54 for the Race of Champions Sportsman Modifieds. The 31st annual U.S. Open 125 for the RoC Modified will cap off the 2019 season at Lancaster on Sunday afternoon. The full schedule of events is available at www.lancasternationalspeedway.com.
