Diedrich Fights Problems all Weekend, Out First Round

Courtesy of Firebaugh Express Racing

Sacramento, Ca – Jay Diedrich in his “Evil Outlaw” Firebaugh Express Racing 1957 Chevy will have to wait a little longer before he gets that first Pro Mod win as he lost in the first round of eliminations with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association on the June 11-12 weekend.

Diedrich qualified in the number three spot after two sessions of qualifying with a strong 6.17@243.77. In the first round of eliminations he faced Bret Williamson who drives the Don Carter Motorsports 1953 Studebaker. Williamson was having his fair share of problems all weekend too so the first round match-up was going to be won by who had the better luck getting from “A-to-B”.

Diedrich left on Williamson by a lot off the line and was on a great pass until about half-track where something in the transmission or clutch went away allowing Williamson to drive past Diedrich and take the round win, Williamson’s 6.15 to Diedrich’s 6.38. Looking at the computer and time slip it looked like Diedrich was going to the second round with a great holeshot and a low ‘teen or high “0” pass…but that racing.

The Firebaugh Express Racing team will take the “Evil Outlaw” 1957 Chevy apart and find the problem in the drive train and get ready for the next race on their schedule with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association on July 10-11 in Woodburn, Oregon.
