Keith Haney Rolling to Final Memphis Race with MWDRS Pro Mod’s Quickest Nitrous Car

TULSA, OK – A promising start to the 2022 Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) presented by J&A Service season in late March has Keith Haney fired up for the next race on the series’ eight-race schedule, the MWDRS Memphis Nationals, April 22-23 at Memphis International Raceway (MIR). Taking place in conjunction with the 35th Chevy Show Weekend, it’s one of the last major events at MIR before the track closes later this summer.

At the MWDRS season opener, Haney recorded a 3.655-second blast in his Jerry Bickel-built, Pat Musi-powered “Black Mamba” Camaro in qualifying to set the current series record for nitrous cars in Stroud Safety Pro Mod. It nearly matched Haney’s career-best of 3.653. He scored a first-round win over Texas Pro Mod hero Frankie “Mad Man” Taylor before falling to Daniel Pharris in a 3.600-to-3.741-second race in the second round.

“We came out good and lost to Daniel Pharris in a great race,” Haney said. “We were on a great pass and had a nitrous backfire around 200 feet out and took us out of the race. We probably wouldn’t have won the race, but we would’ve ran within the number we ran in qualifying. That was the goal. Obviously, [Pharris] was gonna go faster and he did. But we had good lights together and everything was there. We were together for a little bit, then we had the little backfire. But the preparation at the shop and everything we’ve been doing is paying off.”

Keith Haney to Unveil ‘America – Lady Liberty’ Blown Pro Mod Camaro

TULSA, OK – Doorslammer racing veteran Keith Haney has added yet another eye-catching hot rod to the list of Keith Haney Racing entries over the years, as he plans to unveil his screw-blown “America – Lady Liberty” ’16 Camaro during the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) presented by J&A Service season opener, March 18-19 at Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris, Texas.

“Lady Liberty” started life as “Enigma,” Haney’s record-setting, nitrous-fed Radial vs. the World entry that he debuted at Lights Out 7 in February 2016. “Enigma” made waves in the radial racing scene with Haney and Brandon Pesz sharing driving duties. Street Outlaws star “Daddy Dave” Comstock also made some passes in Enigma. The car even carried Haney to the MWDRS Radial vs. the World championship in 2017, the same year Haney also won the Pro Mod title.

“I came out with Enigma and went faster than anyone else had ever been on a set of 315 radials,” Haney said. “I wasn’t even supposed to qualify. It’s been in viral videos with millions of views. This car actually made Keith Haney. Enigma made Keith Haney when we were running Radial vs. the World at Donald Long’s races, when I had my big rivalry with Stevie ‘Fast’ Jackson and I beat him in my very first grudge race. This car has such a rich history, and it’s exciting to build on that history now as ‘America – Lady Liberty.”

Keith Haney Finishes 3rd in Pro Mod in Standout Summit Racing Equipment MWDRS Season

FERRIS, TX – By advancing to the second round at the final race of the 2021 season in the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service, Pro Mod veteran Keith Haney secured a third-place finish to cap off an impressive season in the loaded class.

Calling it the best season he’s had in several years in his nitrous-powered “Black Mamba” Camaro from Jerry Bickel Race Cars, Haney enjoyed a great deal of successes, advancing to three final rounds and picking up a win in what was a thoroughly enjoyable 2021 season in the MWDRS.

“Everyone on this team had a remarkable last half of the season,” Haney said. “The camaraderie between the crew was great and this was the best year we’ve had drag racing since 2018 and this is the best race car I’ve ever owned. I’m already geared up for 2022.”

Pro Mod’s Keith Haney Looks to Close 2021 Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series Season in Style in Texas

FERRIS, TX – After a tremendous second half of the season, Keith Haney has a chance to put one final exclamation point on his incredible finish to the 2021 season in the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service.

After picking up an impressive Pro Mod victory at the second race of the Osage Hotel Casino Throwdown in T-Town in Tulsa, Haney can end the year with back-to-back wins at this weekend’s MWDRS Xtreme Texas World Finals at Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris, Texas.

Haney has put together three final round appearances, including one win, and a semifinal showing since August in his nitrous-powered “Black Mamba” Camaro, and the veteran remains in championship contention as well. It’s an outside shot, as he sits 94 points behind Joey Oksas heading into the last race, but even having a chance is a massive victory for Haney and a tribute to the team’s performance over the last two months.

Pro Mod’s Keith Haney Wins in Thriller at Mid-West Drag Racing Series Throwdown in T-Town

TULSA, OK – The script couldn’t have been drawn up much better and Keith Haney made sure to provide a thrilling conclusion. Racing at his home track at this weekend’s Osage Hotel Casino Throwdown in T-Town for the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service, Haney picked up one of the most memorable wins of his career, driving to the victory in Pro Mod at Tulsa Raceway Park.

Haney went 3.671-seconds at 207.37 mph in his nitrous-powered “Black Mamba” Camaro to beat Jim Whiteley in the championship round, giving him his first victory of the season after coming up just short at two previous final round appearances.

This one finished off a double-race weekend at Tulsa and Haney was left smiling after a wonderful end to his weekend.

Pro Mod’s Keith Haney on the Cusp of Victory Heading to Mid-West Drag Racing Series Throwdown in T-Town

TULSA, OK – After back-to-back final round appearances in the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service, Keith Haney is ready to finish the job in Pro Mod. This weekend, he’ll have two chances to do it, racing as part of this weekend’s massive double-event Osage Casino Hotel Throwdown in T-Town.

It’s the twice-a-year race at the track he co-owns, Tulsa Raceway Park, and this one will be huge for Haney in his nitrous-powered “Black Mamba” Summit Racing Equipment Camaro. He’s right in the thick of the points race and will have double the opportunity to pick up a victory — or two — over the course of Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Considering he’s picked up a pair of runner-up finishes and a No. 1 qualifier at the last two MWDRS races, Haney is heading into the race with plenty of grand aspirations.

“We’re feeling good and everyone is working really well together,” Haney said. “The preparation we’ve done at the shop, it has paid dividends. We’re paying attention to the details and our program is showing it. That pressure to win is what everybody lives for. Our team is set up for success and I believe that preparation sets us up to be successful, period.”

Keith Haney Looks to Keep Hot Streak Going Heading to Shakedown Nationals XIX at Virginia Motorsports Park

Dinwiddie, VA – Coming off back-to-back final round appearances in the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service, Pro Mod veteran Keith Haney isn’t waiting long to get back behind the wheel of his nitrous-powered “Black Mamba” Camaro.

Just days after his runner-up at the U.S. 131 Nationals, Haney is back at it, this time at the Shakedown Nationals XIX at Virginia Motorsports Park. It’s a race that has carved out a special place in the Pro Mod world and Haney has also enjoyed competing in the legendary event. Now in its third year at its new home at VMP, it’s also a chance for Haney to take on the top Pro Mod drivers competing from the East Coast.

“We’re excited to take on those East Coast guys. We did well last year and I ran one of my career bests. It’s a great race and I can’t wait to get back in the car,” Haney said. “There’s great history at that race and I really enjoy the nostalgia of it. It’s my birthday weekend and I get to enjoy that, too, and racing is what do I love doing more than anything. Seeing my East Coast fans will be nice and we’re excited for a big weekend.”

Back-to-Back Pro Mod Finals in the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series has Keith Haney Moving in the Right Direction

MARTIN, MI – The good news for Keith Haney is he has recorded back-to-back Pro Mod final round appearances in the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service after his latest runner-up at last weekend’s U.S. 131 Nationals.

It’s shot Haney into the top five in the class and made him a championship contender with three races left in the season, but it’s also a race Haney felt as though he should have won. He had the quicker run in his nitrous-powered “Black Mamba” Camaro, going 3.686-seconds at 206.23 mph, but was second off the starting line in the championship round against Joey Oksas, who won his second straight race. There were plenty of positives, but Haney was left lamenting what could have been at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Mich.

“Hands down, I had the fastest, best car on the race track last weekend and I beat myself,” Haney said. “Nobody was faster than me, plain and simple, and that’s from the time we qualified No. 1 all the way to the finals. But I was late on the tree and I let one get away from me. I’m not happy about that part of it.

Keith Haney Enjoys Impressive Weekend, Racing to Pro Mod Final at Mid-West Drag Racing Series Great Bend Nationals

GREAT BEND, KS —After a runner-up finish in Pro Mod last weekend at the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service race at SRCA Dragstrip, Keith Haney didn’t hold back when describing his feelings on the weekend.

Haney and his team took the nitrous-powered “Black Mamba” Camaro to the final round at the Great Bend Nationals, showing significant progress in the first time back in the car since May.

“It was the best weekend I’ve had since I’ve owned the ‘Black Mamba.’ It was just a great weekend and the best weekend I’ve had with this car. That sums it all up,” Haney said. “To see the smile on my team’s face after all the hard work they’ve put in, it was more than satisfying.”

It was a satisfying weekend in more ways than one for the veteran racer and MWDRS owner. While Haney certainly enjoyed a terrific weekend in the car in a loaded Pro Mod class, the Mid-West Drag Racing Series also experienced a banner weekend in its first visit to SRCA Dragstrip.

After Extended Time Off, Keith Haney Chomping at the Bit for Mid-West Drag Racing Series Pro Mod Racing at Great Bend Nationals

GREAT BEND, KS – The Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service hasn’t raced since May, but for veteran driver and MWDRS owner Keith Haney, it’s been even longer. The longtime Pro Mod standout hasn’t finished a race in his nitrous-powered ’19 “Black Mamba” Camaro since late March when he finished as the runner-up in the Pro Mod Slammers race at the MWDRS 2021 opener at Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris, Texas. Haney raced at the MWDRS race in May, but he lost oil pressure after the burnout and tuner Brandon Switzer and the team decided it would be best to not run the event.

So while MWDRS racers are eager to race for the first time in more than three months at this weekend’s Great Bend Nationals at SRCA Dragstrip in Great Bend, Kan., there’s even added excitement for Haney, who is thrilled to race his Switzer Dynamics/Musi-powered machine for the first time in what seems like ages.

“It’s been a minute for me, but I’m really looking forward to getting back into the car,” Haney said. “I’m excited to get to Great Bend and race at a great facility with a brand new race surface. Our race team is absolutely chomping at the bit to go racing. I’m just excited to get behind the wheel. It’s going to be awesome and we’ve still got a chance to win the championship.”
