Booher Claims First North Central Region TAD Championship
CHAMPAIGN, IL – Racing in just his third full season in the NHRA’s quickest and fastest sportsman class, 31-year old Brandon Booher drove his torque converter-equipped Top Alcohol Dragster to three regional event wins to claim his first NHRA North Central Regional championship. Booher’s regional title is just one of many high points in a season that included several firsts and accomplishments for the father-son Booher Racing team.
Though Booher won three regional events – Joliet, Cordova, and Columbus – in the middle of summer, he didn’t officially clinch the North Central region title until qualifying was complete at the final Lucas Oil series race of the year in Las Vegas earlier this month. Challenger Bill Reichert would’ve taken the points lead with a win at the race.
Booher Finishes 2013 Season with Reading Runner-Up
MOHNTON, PA – Recent national event winner Brandon Booher came close to securing a win at the Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway this weekend. A No. 1 qualifying effort and low ETs of every round took Brandon and his torque converter-equipped Top Alcohol Dragster to the finals where a starting line mishap and mechanical failure cost him a second national event win.
Brandon missed his first qualifying run after electrical components started smoking in the cockpit following the burnout. He came back and set low E.T. of the event, 5.307 at 269 MPH, in the second session. A broken blower belt prevented Booher from running his first 5.2-second pass in the final qualifying session, but his Q2 run stood up for the No. 1 spot at the end of qualifying.
Booher’s Auto-Plus Nationals Goals Include Records, Round Wins
MOHNTON, PA – The upcoming Auto-Plus Nationals will play an important role in how Illinois-based Top Alcohol Dragster team Booher Racing wraps up their break-out 2013 season. A win at the record-setting Reading event would keep the team’s national championship hopes alive. Driver and tuner Brandon Booher has more on his mind, though. He wants to leave Maple Grove Raceway with the title of first torque converter car in the five-twenties.
“Reaching the 5.2s is definitely one of our goals for the weekend. I would settle for another national event victory instead, but hopefully we can get both. I have to put more personal importance on the 5.2 pass. No one ever thought that a torque converter car would run in the thirties. There are very few blown cars in the country that can run in the twenties, let alone one with a torque converter,” said Brandon, who became the first torque converter-equipped race car in the 5.3-second range when he ran a 5.39 at 266 MPH in eliminations at this event in 2011.
Booher takes Torque Converter TAD to Historic First Win at Charlotte
CONCORD, NC – Three-time NHRA Lucas Oil series regional event winner Brandon Booher scored his first national event win last Sunday at the Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals at zMax Dragway. The entire event was historic for both the father-son Booher Racing team and the Top Alcohol Dragster class, as Brandon’s win was the first for a torque converter-equipped TAD. He also became the second-fastest blown alcohol dragster driver in NHRA history en route to the finals.
Booher qualified his AB Construction/Torque Management entry in the fourth spot, putting himself in the top half of a field that included several top blown alcohol and nitro-injected A/Fuel competitors. His 5.371 at 269 MPH stood for the top spot after two rounds of qualifying but was eventually bumped down during the stout Saturday morning qualifying session. Brandon would face former Division 1 champion Karen Stalba to start eliminations.
Booher’s Regional Championship Chase Continues at Earlville
CHAMPAIGN, IL – Following a No.1 qualifying effort and semifinal appearance in Bowling Green, Ky. and a strong showing at the legendary 59th Annual U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, Top Alcohol Dragster driver Brandon Booher is heading to Earlville, Iowa with aspirations of locking up his first NHRA North Central regional championship. If Booher can seal the deal, he will be the first blown alcohol driver to win the North Central region/division title since 2008 and the first torque converter-equipped TAD to win it ever.
Brandon attempted to lock it up at the Bowling Green regional event two weeks ago. He earned his fourth No. 1 qualifying effort of the year and reached the semifinals. The AB Construction/Torque Management dragster left too early by just six thousandths of a second, ending his weekend and pushing back the championship decision.

Booher Looking to Add to Route 66 Raceway History
JOLIET, IL – Brandon Booher enters this weekend’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 Nationals driving the best car he’s had in his short four-year Top Alcohol Dragster career. The family-owned blown alcohol dragster is running quicker, faster, and more consistent – his three consecutive No. 1 qualifying positions and back to back regional event wins are proof. But now he’s ready to enter his first national event of the season.
The Route 66 Nationals is arguably one of the most competitive events of the season. The Jegs Allstars event held in conjunction with the race draws the top cars from around the country, making for a tight field. Despite a list of twenty four entered drivers, Brandon feels as confident as he did when entering any of the last four races he’s competed at in 2013.
Booher Earns First Win, First Converter-Equipped TAD Win
JOLIET, IL – Illinois-based Booher Racing added another highlight to their already impressive 2013 season this weekend at the Burndown at Sundown NHRA Lucas Oil Series regional event. Driver Brandon Booher turned his second consecutive #1 qualifying position into a successful day of eliminations that ended with a victory over Chris Demke in the finals. This is the first Top Alcohol Dragster regional event title for the 30-year old driver. The win also marked the first victory for a torque converter-equipped TAD.
Booher finished day one of qualifying in the third position, running 5.389, just .002 shy of the number two spot. The AB Construction/Torque Management dragster was consistent in Q2, running 5.393 at 268 MPH. The big run came in the final qualifying session. Booher ran 5.328 at 271 MPH to take over the top spot, topping a list of sixteen cars. Brandon also took the #1 spot at the last North Central region race, the sold-out Cavalcade of Stars in Norwalk, Ohio.
Booher Earns Career First #1 Qualifier
NORWALK, OH – For the second race in a row, a simple parts failure prevented Top Alcohol Dragster’s Brandon Booher from turning a solid qualifying effort into late round results at the Mickey Mart Rewards Cavalcade of Stars Lucas Oil Series race at Summit Motorsports Park. The Illinois driver earned his first number one qualifier position but lost first round when his supercharged entry lost oil pressure prior to staging.
Booher set the pace for the weekend in the opening qualifying session, running 5.386 at 267 miles per hour. He struggled in the second session, but so did the rest of the thirteen-car field, which included Division 3 champions Bill Reichert and Marty Thacker. Running in front of a sold-out crowd of over 45,000 fans, Brandon clicked off a 5.403 at 268 mph pass during the final qualifying session on Saturday night. No one beat his first elapsed time, so he would enter Sunday’s eliminations as the number one qualifier for the first time in his four-year TAD career.
