$1 to Race, $20,000 to Win at Trick Flow Specialties Fun Ford Reloaded

With hundreds of Mustangs, Mavericks, Thunderbirds, Torinos and other fast and famous Fords on track and on Mike DuMontdisplay each year, Summit Motorsports Park was a hot spot for the Fun Ford Weekend series until it ended several years ago, but a new event has emerged for the blue oval brotherhood in the form of Trick Flow Specialties Fun Ford Reloaded.

It boasts Fast Ford, Quick Ford, Street Ford, Nostalgia Ford and True Street categories, July 8-10, 2016 at Summit Motorsports Park, with a special Frantic Four and Quick 16 adding fuel to the go-fast fire. There also will be a swap-meet, Don Tester Ford Car Show, manufacturers’ midway, car corral and games for children.

“When we hosted Fun Ford Weekend back in the day, it was the largest Ford event in the country, with 1,300 to 1,400 participants and 15,000 people altogether on the property,” said Bill Bader, Jr., president of Summit Motorsports Park. “It was a happening and a reunion for Ford fans, and it was something that everyone circled on their calendar. Now, with this new annual event, we’re hoping to recapture everything that made that event so special.”

According to Bader, Jr., there’s already an enormous amount of excitement and enthusiasm surrounding the event, which will feature a separate race each day and culminate in a runoff to determine whether reigning King Ford A.J. Buchanan will or will not hold onto his hard-earned title.

Adding to the hoopla is the fact that the cost to take part in each race is only $1, and the guaranteed purse is $20,000. There are additional opportunities to race through the Box Ford Shootout and No Box Ford Shootout on Friday for $25, and the Gallop for the Gold on Sunday for $10. A grand display of fireworks will cap off all of the action on Saturday.

Admission for adults is $15 for one day; $25 for Saturday and Sunday or $35 for Friday-Sunday. Admission for children ages 6-12 is $5 daily. The cost to take part in the car show is $35 for judged entries and $25 and non-judged entries.

Gates open at 8 a.m. Friday, and 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, with time-trials at 10 a.m. Friday, and 8:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, and eliminations 5 p.m. Friday, 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 12:30 p.m. Sunday. King Ford’s Feast is set for 6-8 p.m. Saturday

“We’re looking forward to launching this event this year,” said Bader, Jr. “While we expect a large car-count, our hope is that it grows each year until it has a strong following and has become a must-attend event.”
