The resilience of Jason Scruggs is impressive. Not only did they get the car back together for this race, they sit a top of the heap in Pro Extreme with an impressive 4.768 @ 203.06 MPH!
Alex Hossler would loose oil pressure on the burnout in session 1. The team has checked the bottom end of the engine and found no problems. Next is the oil pump. Looks like this crew has a long night ahead of them!
John Stanley would loose an air line to the transmission after the 2 gear shift. They coasted to a 4.031 at 158.41 MPH.
Stan Smith would wheel his 41 Willis to a 4.025 @ 177.79 MPH. The motor broke a rocker just short of the finish line that took out the burst panels and damaged some piston rings. They crew has enough parts to fix the other damage and will return in the morning for round #2.
Mustang Oklahoma's Todd Martin has his 53 Studebaker firmly in the field with a4.030 @ 183.90 MPH pass good for the #11 spot.
Khalid Al-Balooshi hard work continues to pay off with the #1 spot after round 1 of qualifying. He ran a 3.909 @ 191.24 to out distance Shannon Jenkins by nearly 2 hundredths of a second.
Raceland, Louisiana's Earl Folse has qualified with a great 4.125 @ 177.11. The long time NHRA Top Sportsman racer is lovin' the ADRL!
Gary White out ran Chuck Ulsch for the #1 spot in Extreme 10.5 by just 2 thousandths of a second, 4.063 to a 4.065. White paid a the price for the spot with the destruction of his engine. Not to worry...they have plenty more!
A nice clean pass with no problems is what Spiro Pappas wanted on the first qualifying session. He got exactly what he wanted and qualified7 with a 4.203 @ 174.48 MPH. The crew was in good spirits when I stopped by after the run. They are tweaking the combo as they hunt for more ET.
Todd Moyer had found the electrical problem that's hurt the teams performance over the last 2 events. Now they need to figure out a permanent fix for the exhaust tubes off the waste gates. the intense heat is making the metal brittle and prone to blow out.
Brian Gahm took the provisional #1 spot in Extreme Pro stock with a 4.144 173.49 MPH shot. He out distanced Matt Hartford by just a little over 2 hundredths of a second.

Paulk in the wall!
They would run a 4.19 in the second test session.
Kahlid Al-Balooshi would run a 3.956 in test session 1.
Ulsch runs a great 4.054 @ 195.08 MPH
Ya just never know who's gonna show up at an ADRL race... Hello Mr. Schumacher...

Spiro Pappas made it in about 7:30 last night. The crew left Bickle's shop around 6:40 last night after working on the car since Monday to square everything around. The Virginia fire was caused by a bent mounting tab on the fuel rail. In addition to fixing the fuel problems, the team completely re-wired the car from front to back.
The ADRL Hadree's Gateway Drags II is race 4 of a 4 week road trip for Team GoForth's Extreme Pro Stock father and son team. Starting with the IHRA Grand Bend race, the team has not been home for almost a month. I spoke with Dean last night. He told me this is the longest he's been gone from home since 1961! Cary Goforth runner up at the VMP race to Brian Gahm.
Wes Johnston had a meeting with the right guard wall during his 1st round meeting with Neal Wantye in Virginia. They found a broken x link that keeps the rearend housing centered in the chassis. the replaced the right door and sill panel along with a repair on the front end. They did have to replace the right upper frame bar and took the opportunity to install new front struts.
