RECORD 17TH CHAMPIONSHIP STILL IN SIGHT FOR JOHN FORCE AND PEAK CHEVROLET HEADING TO THE STRIP AT LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY
LAS VEGAS – John Force and his PEAK Antifreeze and Coolant Chevrolet Camaro SS team have been in the championship conversation 
since kicking off the 2021 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season. With just two races left in the NHRA Countdown to the Championship, a win at the Dodge//SRT NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway would only solidify their run for the season crown.
Tied for fourth and 101 points out of the lead, the PEAK Chevy team have made five final round appearances that included three wins first at the Charlotte Four-Wide, then New England Nationals, then sharing the winners circle with daughter Brittany in Topeka at Heartland Motorsports Park. In addition, they’ve had three No. 1 qualifying positions (Charlotte Four-Wide, U.S. Nationals and Carolina Nationals). A win at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will not only keep them in the championship conversation but would extend to 14th the number of seasons Force has won at least four races.
“We’ve had a good season. We’ve had some bumps along the way, all three teams, but we all made it in the Countdown. We’re here, that’s what matters,” Force said. “This PEAK team, Danny Hood, Tim Fabrosis, Joe Barlam, they’ve really given me a great Chevy. I’ve had to learn to keep up, and I am. That’s why we’re here, they’ve worked hard, and I’ve had to do my job, really hold on with the rest of these young guys out here.”
While Force doesn’t gamble, he’s been lucky at Las Vegas, especially in the fall race in which he has won four times, most recently in 2016. In addition to clinching the 2013 championship with a final round victory over daughter Courtney, his final round win over Matt Hagan in 2010 enabled him to cut Hagan’s lead from 64 to 37 points, a margin he then overcame with a win at Pomona that clinched the title. Although he’s qualified No. 1 just one time in the fall race, he has reached the final round in every third start (six times in 18 tries).
“I’ve had Lady Luck on my side more than a few times and in more places than just Las Vegas but this track, it’s been good to me,” Force said. “It’s one of Bruton Smith’s and you know they can put on a show. It will be exciting for the fans; it’ll be exciting for the drivers and maybe a little nerve wracking for the crew chiefs with how tight this competition in Funny Car is. I know I’m sure looking forward to it.”
Qualifying at the Dodge//SRT NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway begins Friday with one session at 4 p.m. and continues Saturday with sessions at 1 and 4:30 p.m. Sunday’s eliminations are slated to begin at 11 a.m. Television coverage of the event will be featured on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) and begins Friday with a qualifying show at 7 p.m. ET and continues with a second qualifying show Sunday at 4 p.m. ET followed by the eliminations show at 5 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
