Elma, NY – It’s been over a year since Mike Janis has made a full quarter mile pass in a legal Pro Mod. In that time Janis took home a couple wins on the 1/8 mile outlaw circuit but he’ll be the first to tell you there’s nothing like the quarter mile.
“We had a fantastic time last season. The people over there were the best part. They have a top notch program there and we were proud to be a small part of it but the lure of quarter mile racing always pulled at me. It’s something I’ll never shake I guess,” said Janis.
Not only will Janis be returning to the quarter mile; he’ll be joining the NHRA and their first ever sanctioned professional Pro Modified race. For the past nine seasons, Pro Mod has been considered an exhibition class when run at NHRA events, but this weekend that all changes. The 41st NHRA Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals will mark the first time in history that Pro Modifieds will be considered a professional NHRA category. The NHRA Gatornationals is the first of 10 events in the NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Series.

Just received this video link from Pappas tuner Don Bailey. Based on my conversations with Don at the finals in Dallas and at the ADRL banquet, I knew they had more in the car since they were just starting to learn what the new motor combo likes as a tune up. I doubt this is the quickest this car can run. Who will be the first in the 3.80’s? It’s going to be a very interesting year in ADRL XTF racing…very interesting indeed!
Sort Of …..
John Stanley’s race cars used to sport a decal on the hood that stated unequivocally: “No boxes, no juice, Just balls and boost!”
Now we have graduated into a new experimental arena with that infamous dental tool, laughing gas. We just hope we are not the ones being laughed at!!!
As these latest photos will show you, the proper power adder has been reinstalled on the Appalachia on Steroids Camaro for the upcoming season.
It has been enhanced with a few of Mike Wood of Nitrous Express’ brain children.
We are embarking off on a new area of additional power adders. OTG Racing is contributing to this new effort as well with some new storage vessels Brian has been in the process of creating, all attached in the car by some trick Pat Bennett Race Cars pieces.
Just don’t stand to close when John swaps feet in Houston!!! Who knows what could happen…
