Total Two-Way Radios once again provides radios for staff of PMRA,

TORONTO, ON – Proper communications between officials is essential during a race weekend, and for 2012 Total Two-Way Radio has retuned as the official communications supplier for the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series.

“We’re thankful and pleased to have Total Two-Way Radio on board with us once again,” stated Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations for all three drag racing series. “Our operations people are in constant communication and are able to perform their duties at one of our events much better with the help of the two-way radios.”

PSCA Top Comp Returns at Next Event Thanks to Lucas Oil

LAS VEGAS, NV – The Pacific Street Car Association announced today the Top Comp bracket class is returning to competition starting with the MagnaFuel Las Vegas Nationals April 27-29. The class, sponsored by Lucas Oil, is intended for NHRA-approved cars that run sub 8.60 ET’s.

The Lucas Oil Top Comp class will be featured in four races:

April 27-29: MagnaFuel Vegas Nationals, The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Sept. 7-9: The Slick Mist Drags, LVMS
Oct. 5-7: Mickey Thompson Tires West Coast Nationals, LVMS
Fourth Date: TBA

There is also a guaranteed purse with $1,500 going to the winner, $750 to the runner-up, $400 to semi-finalists, and $200 to quarter-finalists.

In addition to the Outlaw True Tens, we have Promod’s, True Street, Index Racing and JR Dragsters to insure we have something for everyone who enjoys Heads Up Racing.

Our Texas VS the World race on June 8th & 9th, 2012 will include a Gamblers race on Friday night June 8th for the Outlaws. This race will be a $500.00 Entry Fee… “Winner take all”. We will also have a Gamblers Race for Radial 275 or 28/10’son Friday night with an entry fee of 200.00 winner take all.

Leaf Racewear continues to play vital role in Drag Racing Safety

LONDON, ON – The Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series is pleased to have the continued involvement of Leaf Racewear & Safety Equipment as the preferred safety equipment supplier of the three drag racing series.

“Safety is paramount in the operation of our three drag race series,” explained Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations for all three series. “Our safety and fire people have an important job to do at our race events, and we are very grateful to Leaf Racewear & Safety Equipment, who provides us with the best in protection for this integral part of putting on a race.”

Leaf Racewear and Safety Equipment Inc. provides the PMRA and Quick 32 Sportsman Series and the PBSS Fire and Rescue Safety team with two-piece fire suits, and these suits have the SFI specification rating of 3.2A/20. Suit material is set up in six categories from 3.2A/1 to the maximum 3.2A/20.

These suits are custom made and provide the highest safety rating, explained Leaf’s Colin Grandy.

“These suits have the top rating,” he said. “The trick is to make them as safe as possible and provide comfort at the same time. They are manufactured with the layers required for protection and made comfortable for the user.”

Mickey Thompson Announces Official Sponsorship of the 2012 NMCA Series and Super street 10.5 Class

STOW, OH – Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels returns to National Muscle Car Association (NMCA) racing as the official 2012 series and Super Street 10.5W class title sponsor for all seven national events. The company will also offer contingency awards for all Pro and Sportsman classes including Pro Street, Super Street 10.5W, Nostalgia Pro Street, Xtreme Street, Pro Stock, Drag Radial, Mean Street, Late-Model EFI, Open Comp, Nostalgia Super Stock, Muscle Car and special event classes.
 
Pro class competitors who earn the win using four Mickey Thompson tires will earn a $300 award, with $150 to be awarded to the runners-up. In the Sportsman classes, winning racers will earn $150, and runners-up will receive $75. Additional payouts will be awarded to winners and runners-up using four Mickey Thompson wheels in the Pro Street, Super Street, Nostalgia Pro Street, Xtreme Street, Pro Stock and Drag Radial classes.

Alexander Ready for Freshman Four-Wide Experience

CONCORD,NC– College student and Funny Car driver Blake Alexander has been doing a lot of studying over the past few weeks. In between college classes, he studies the staging process that is necessary for this weekend’s NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway. The driver of the Auto Service Plus Funny Car is ready for the challenge.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to take part in the four-wide race. I’ve talked with Paul and John Smith about the process, on top of studying video of past 4-Wide Nationals runs. Ultimately the staging process is the only thing that’s different for me. It will take more time and focus to get it right,” claimed Alexander.

Blake and the Paul Smith-led team have experience at the Bellagio of drag strips. Blake tested at zMax Dragway in the Paul Smith’s Top Fuel School Funny Car last year during his licensing time. The Paul Smith Racing team experienced success at last year’s 4-Wide Nationals, and they’re shooting for even more success this year.
