Larry Morgan ready to light it up in important hub for title sponsor FireAde

DALLAS – Pro Stock drag racing veteran Larry Morgan will be fighting for this third victory of the season this Larry Morgan - Maple Grove, courtesy of Comp Plus and Roger Richardsweekend at the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals, a feat he hopes will bring more attention to first-year sponsor FireAde in an area of the country where its products are saving lives and property every day.

“Ron and Teresa Thames, the owners and founders of FireAde, have helped me race to one of my all-time-best seasons, and the best way I know how to repay their support is by helping their business continue to grow,” Morgan said. “Drag racing at this level takes corporate sponsorship, and corporations get involved to sell their products or services. Well, in a state like Texas, where so much oil is produced, they are changing oil-platform firefighting in big ways, and it’s saving lives and property like never before. So yeah, this is a big race for us, no doubt.”

FireAde is the most complete and user-friendly firefighting agent produced in the world, enabling firefighters to thoroughly extinguish fires in an environmentally friendly way. FireAde is used extensively throughout the oilfields of Texas with glowing results.

In its first year of sponsorship in the NHRA pro ranks, FireAde has enjoy great results with Morgan winning races in Charlotte and Denver and taking runner-up honors in Chicago. It’s his best year since winning four events in 1990.

“Hat’s off to everyone at Gray Motorsports also for providing us with some awesome horsepower,” Morgan said. “And my son Nick has come a long way as a crew chief. He knows what he’s doing and has proven he belongs.

“It’s been an awesome year, and to have this happen after three decades in the sport is very satisfying. We’re not done yet. We’re fourth in the points right now, our best position in 11 years (when he finished fourth), and we’re looking to move up more in these last three races. We won Dallas back in 1991, and that earned us a brick up there in the winner’s circle, which is always cool to go and see. I like this place and we want to add another brick this year.”

Morgan’s best finish in the championship points is third, which he accomplished twice, in 1989 and 1991. He’s currently 41 points, or approximately two rounds of elimination action, behind third-place Chris McGaha. Second-place Greg Anderson is 32 points ahead of McGaha. Erica Enders is the overall leader, 145 ahead of Morgan.

Pro Stock qualifying sessions are scheduled for 2:45 and 5:45 p.m., Friday, and 12:45 and 3:45 p.m., Saturday. Eliminations are scheduled to begin at noon, Sunday. All racing action will be shown on ESPN2.
