LANGDON, PROCK, ANDERSON AND SMITH CLAIM VICTORIES AT INAUGURAL NHRA POTOMAC NATIONALS
MECHANICSVILLE, MD — The inaugural NHRA Potomac Nationals presented by JEGS crowned four champions Sunday at Maryland International Raceway, highlighted by a history-making Pro Stock Motorcycle victory and a breathtaking all-teammate Top Fuel final decided by one inch.
TOP FUEL: Langdon Hat Trick
Shawn Langdon and the Kalitta Air team completed a three-race win streak — and their fourth victory of the 2026 season — in one of the closest finishes of the year. Langdon’s 3.762-second run at 334.90 mph edged teammate Doug Kalitta’s 3.766 at 334.24 mph in an all-Kalitta Motorsports final by two ten-thousandths of a second, roughly one inch at the stripe. The win extends Langdon’s lead in the Top Fuel points standings to 76 points over Kalitta heading into the New England Nationals.
FUNNY CAR: Prock First Win of 2026
Reigning two-time world champion Austin Prock ended his winless start to the season in convincing fashion, posting a 3.956-second pass at 324.20 mph in the Funny Car final to defeat Jack Beckman and claim victory at NHRA’s inaugural race at Maryland International Raceway.
PRO STOCK: Anderson Wins Teammate Battle
Greg Anderson picked up his second Pro Stock win of the season by defeating teammate and reigning world champion Dallas Glenn in the final round. Anderson’s HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro crossed the finish line in 6.472 seconds at 212.46 mph to claim the trophy.
PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE: Smith Makes History
Angie Smith etched her name in the record books on Sunday, winning the 200th NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series event for a female competitor. Smith guided her DENSO Auto Parts Buell to a 6.683-second pass at 201.52 mph, defeating Ryan Oehler in the final round to close out eliminations at Maryland International Raceway.
The NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series continues June 5-7 at the NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway in Epping, N.H. For more information visit www.nhra.com.
