Top Fuel points leader Shawn Langdon leads the way on Friday at Maryland International Raceway
MECHANICSVILLE, MD — Friday qualifying is in the books at the NHRA Potomac Nationals presented by JEGS, Race 7 of the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series at Maryland International Raceway, and four drivers have staked their claim to provisional No. 1 qualifier honors heading into Saturday.
TOP FUEL
Top Fuel points leader Shawn Langdon grabbed the provisional top spot with a blistering 3.758-second pass at 336.23 mph in the Kalitta Air dragster. It marks the second No. 1 qualifier position of the 2026 season for Langdon, who arrives at MIR sitting atop the championship standings.
FUNNY CAR
Veteran Cruz Pedregon powered his Snap-on America 250 Dodge Hellcat to the top of the Funny Car sheets with a 3.951-second run at 323.19 mph. Should the pass hold through Saturday’s qualifying rounds, it would be Pedregon’s first No. 1 qualifier of the 2026 campaign and the 66th of his distinguished NHRA career.
PRO STOCK
Six-time Pro Stock champion Greg Anderson laid down a 6.494-second pass at 211.79 mph in the HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro to earn the provisional No. 1 position in Pro Stock. Anderson is chasing his fifth No. 1 qualifier of the season.
PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE
Angie Smith leads the way on two wheels after her DENSO Auto Parts Buell turned in a 6.690-second elapsed time at 202.97 mph at Maryland International Raceway on Friday. If the pass holds through Saturday’s sessions, it will be Smith’s third No. 1 qualifier of the 2026 season.
Qualifying at the NHRA Potomac Nationals presented by JEGS continues Saturday at Maryland International Raceway in Mechanicsville, Maryland, before Sunday’s final eliminations round out the weekend.
