FITTON FINDS $15K AT BTE WORLD FOOTBRAKE CHALLENGE XVI ON SATURDAY

Bristol, TN – Patchy clouds hovered over the facility on Saturday as day three of the BTE World Footbrake Challenge XVI began at Bristol Dragway. New entries were rewarded with a time trial before the footbrake field dove into to first round of eliminations. Racers had to be rushing to get in the gates as the official car count climbed to 450 entries for the second $15,000 payday of the weekend.

The Coalburg Racing Promotions staff is always looking for ways to create a unique experience for the drivers, crew, and fans who attend their events. Throughout the weekend, numerous prizes are awarded to participants based on skill, vehicle fabrication, best losing packages, perfect reaction times, humorous awards, etc. These are all possible due to the support of prestigious companies such as Hoosier Racing Tire, Plourd Racing Products, BRODIX, Moser Engineering,JEGS Performance, AutoMeter, Austin Hinds Motors, Push Button Latches, and so many more.

During the BTE World Footbrake Challenge XVI, a new interactive segment with Cade Caufield was debuted with high praise from the crowd. Footbrake Fast Facts is a trivia gameshow-type experience in which anyone on the property may be surprised with a WFC related question, which if answered correctly, instantly earns them an item from the prize vault!

Rolling back into the on-track action, by round eight only six drivers remained eligible for Saturday’s $15,000 prize: Tesz Powell, Lucas Walker, Josh Witcher, Jordan Wilhelm, Chris Fitton, and Rodney Finchum.

Powell and Fitton face off in the first quarterfinal pairing with Fitton advancing courtesy of Powell’s .001 red light. Walker is .002 and drops to be two above in order to leave Wilhelm mathematically ineligible with an .023 bulb. Finchum is a little too fast off the brake pedal when his red light sends Witcher to the next round.

In the semifinal, it was Witcher who illuminates the red bulb by 8 thousandths while Fitton takes the opportunity to get dialed for the final round. Walker leaves with the wheels up on his Mustang during his bye run and prepares for yet another BTE World Footbrake Challenge final round appearance.

Coincidentally, both $15K final rounds so far had nearly identical outcomes. This time Walker turns it .001 red while Fitton is .021 green to earn his first BTE World Footbrake Challenge win and adds his name to the record books.

There were still plenty of win lights to be illuminated throughout the evening during the now $4,000 to win Gamblers Race. Drivers would compete in between the rounds of the main event until the curfew struck and halted the action with only three cars remaining. Tim Douglas, Joe Foley, and Tim Curry will battle for the Gamblers Race win tomorrow as Day Number Last quickly approaches.

Sunday will feature the final $15,000 race of the BTE World Footbrake Challenge XVI but before any engines start, a church service will take place at approximately 8:15 am. Only new entries will be allowed to make a time trial at 8:45 am before diving right into eliminations.
As always, you can watch all the racing action live on MotorManiaTV.com thanks to the support from JEGS Performance. For event information, please visit www.worldfootbrakechallenge.com.
