Harringtons See Personal Best at Summit Racing Equipment Shakedown at the Summit

While Michigan-based brothers Jeff and Chris Harrington share the driver’s seat of their ’92 Mustang, Jeff is behind harringtonthe wheel of the blue beast for battle at the Summit Racing Equipment Shakedown at the Summit presented by Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels, which began Sept. 16 and runs through Sept. 18, 2016 at Summit Motorsports Park.

He’s entered In Precision Turbo & Engine Outlaw 10.5, and in early qualifying, he blasted to a 4.20 and 189 mph followed by a 4.16 and 183 mph, and is currently qualified fifth out of a field of 15 going into late qualifying.

That elapsed-time as well as that mph are personal bests, as Harrington had previously been 4.19 and 187 mph with his combination consisting of a turbocharged small-block Ford which sips alcohol and rolls on a Team Z Motorsports-tuned chassis.

Tom Kempf Sets Sights on $10,000 Payday at Shakedown at the Summit

After driving to an incredible 4.09 and 188 mph in the eighth-mile in Outlaw 10.5 competition last year, Tom Kempf Tom Kempfdecided to make some changes to his ’02 Firehawk to help it clock even quicker and faster times.

He started by delivering the car to Skinny Kid Race Cars, where its bolt-in factory-style suspension was replaced with strut-style suspension, and by turning his 454 cubic-inch LS bullet on a billet Dart block over to Billy Briggs, who freshened it with a new set of Gibtech pistons, BME rods and a Callies crank before placing the Craig Thibeau-prepped Mast Motorsports canted-valve Mozez heads and sheetmetal intake back on top.

Kempf then replaced the 88mm turbos he had been running with a set of 91mm Precision turbos on loan from fellow racer Nick Agostino to maximize his engine combination, and relied on Rodney Massengale of RPM Transmissions to set his Turbo 400 up with a new dump valve system and massage it to complement his ProTorque converter.

Shakedown at the Summit ProLine Outlaw Pro Mod Purse Soars to $40,000 to Win, $66,600 Guaranteed

In an unprecedented and unbelievable move, Summit Motorsports Park president Bill Bader, Jr. has announced a burly bump in pay for ProLine Outlaw Pro Mod drivers competing in the Summit Racing Equipment Shakedown at the Summit presented by Mickey Thompson Performance Tires and Wheels on Sept. 16-18, 2016, at Summit Motorsports Park.

The winner will now make off with $40,000, and the purse is now packed at $66,600.

“My goal is to make Shakedown the home of the preeminent Pro Mod race on the face of Mother Earth,” said Bader, Jr. “With a guaranteed $40,000 to win and a $66,600 total purse, I think we’re on our way!”

Maday has $10,000 Payday at Summit Motorsports Park

They’ve been giving it everything they have all year, and on the hot and humid Friday night of Aug. 12, 2016, Super MadayPro, Pro, Super Bike and Sportsman drivers and riders in the top sixteen in points in Summit Motorsports Park’s Finish Line Club locked horns as part of the McIvain Race Cars Super 64.

The Quick Time Super Pro final featured Randy Scheuer, Jr. of Toledo, Ohio, who dialed his dragster in at 7.44 and trapped a 7.45 to take out Ryan Pickens of Grafton, Ohio, who dialed his dragster in at 7.93 and ran a 7.94.

The Lakewood Pro final put the spotlight on Jaeden Durst of Fostoria, Ohio, who dipped under his dial-in in his ’84 S-10 with an 11.24 on an 11.27, but pulled off a win over A.J. Buchanan, who turned on the red with an oh-so-close -.006 and eased off the throttle in his Fox body Mustang to a 10.65 on his 10.05 dial-in.

In addition to legendary NHRA 16-time Funny Car world champion John Force and 2009 NHRA Funny Car champion Robert Hight once again thrilling fans with their 10,000 hp Nitro Funny Cars, the great Bob Motz will make his last pass in his iconic jet truck.

Force and Hight racing their 320 mph Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Cars, they will be joined by reigning NHRA Funny Car champion Del Worsham, two-time Funny Car world champion Cruz Pedregon, Tim Wilkerson, Bob Bode Jr, Dale Creasy Jr and Jack Wyatt to give fans a Nitro experience they will never soon forget.

Gates will open at 8 a.m. with a free autograph session in the Bud Chalet starting at 3:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. Fans will want to be in their seats for the pre-race ceremonies at 5:30 p.m. followed by the amazing feature show beginning at 7:00 p.m.

While Bob Motz began driving jet engine-powered dragsters and Funny Cars nearly 50 years ago, he’s most known Bob Motz Summit Motorsports Parkfor the Kenworth truck he climbed into nearly 30 years ago, and for good reason.

The behemoth beast powered by a General Electric J79 jet engine leaves a path of flames and fury as it flies down tracks across the country at well over 200 mph, b ut now, after flabbergasting fan after fan, he’s preparing for what is to be his final performance. It will be part of the 39th Annual Kelly Services Night Under Fire, Aug. 13, 2016 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, and the spectacle nearing sell-out status also will feature Funny Car drivers John Force, Robert Hight, Del Worsham, Tim Wilkerson, Cruz Pedregon, Bob Bode, Jr., Dale Creasy, Jr. and Jack Wyatt; Sarah Edwards and her Queen of Diamonds II jet engine-powered dragster, Rich Hanna and his Gojo jet engine-powered Firebird Funny Car, Ken Hall and his Xlerator jet engine-powered Firebird Funny Car, Scotty Heat and his 50 Cal jet engine-powered dragster and Jim Brewer and his Peacemaker wheelstander. Tuskegee Airmen Tribute Car at Dick Miller Racing Buick, Olds, Cadillac Race/Show Nationals

Michael Joseph was just eight years old when he began saving money to buy a car in ’68, and four years later, he had DSCN4573decided he wanted that car to be a ’69 Buick Electra 225.

With his dad’s help, he bought a previously-owned one from a dealership near his Brooklyn, New York home in ’78, and immediately fell in love with its 430 cubic-inch engine and Crystal Blue paint. He took pride in boasting that it was “the biggest V8 Buick made up to ’69,” and while driving to classes at Vaughn College of Aeronautic Engineering, Aviation and Technology in Queens, New York, he began kicking around the idea of turning the car into a rolling tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen and their wartime contributions.

Bader, Jr., who learned his craft from his father, former track operator Bill Bader, Sr., is known for producing multi-day destination events, a marketing method largely responsible for drawing an annual average of 500,000 visitors to his 225 acre dragstrip.
