SUMMIT SERIES NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP DRAWING TO BE HELD IN NORWALK

GLENDORA, CA – A special drawing for the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championship will be held at the upcoming Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park.  The drawing will determine which NHRA division will send the eighth man in each of the four Summit Racing Series classes (Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, and Motorcycle) to complete the pool of racers vying for the 2017 NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championship.

The first seven representatives in each class are made up of the NHRA Summit Racing Series Division Finals champions in each of the NHRA divisions 1 through 5, divisions 6 and 7 send their Race of Champions winner to the national championship competition.

PACIFIC RACEWAYS TO HOST NHRA LUCAS OIL SERIES

KENT, WA – The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional event presented by Les Schwab Tires will take place at Pacific Raceways on June 23-25. The event is one of 45 scheduled across the country where drivers in the Lucas Oil Series earn points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000.

Categories include Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The division’s JBS Top Sportsman Series, Rig Rentals Top Dragster Series and the Sportsman Motorcycle Series will also run in conjunction with the event.

NHRA LUCAS OIL RACING SERIES ROLLS INTO TULSA

TULSA, OK – Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park will host the NHRA South Central Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series on June 23-25. The event is one of 45 scheduled across the country where drivers in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series earn points leading to divisional, regional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000.

Categories include Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The division’s SDPC Raceshop Top Sportsman and Top Dragster Series will also be run in conjunction with the event along with Sportsman Motorcycle. Friday’s action will concluded with a gamblers race for SC, SG, SST, and a Stock/SS Combo with racers vying for a cash prize.

HIDALGO JR. AND FURR LEAD WINNER’S CIRCLE IN BRISTOL

BRISTOL, TN – The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series was in town for the 17th annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tenn. Jimmy Hidalgo Jr., Donaldsonville, La., and Steve Furr, Harrisburg, N.C., led the list of winners celebrating with their teams.

Super Gas standouts, Furr and Jacob Elrod, Harrod, Ohio, took the starting line for battle in the final round. Furr took a great light at the tree (.008 seconds) and went on to win his sixth national event Wally trophy. The North Carolina racer recorded a victory pass of 9.914 seconds, 149.75 mph. Elrod followed with 9.896 seconds, 156.34 mph.

Hidalgo Jr. also had a stellar reaction time (.005 seconds) and took the easy win in the Stock Eliminator final round. John Leach, Baltimore, Md., jumped out of the gate too early, setting off the red light. Hidalgo Jr. finished up at 10.990 seconds, 117.12 mph. Leach, runner upped at 10.790 seconds, 122.19 mph.

SEVERANCE, LOMBARDO WIN ON THE MOUNTAIN

MORRISON, CO – Joey Severance and John Lombardo Jr. took home wins from the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Thunder on the Mountain presented by CARSTAR at Bandimere Speedway alongside Tim Nicholson who powered his 4-speed ’67 Camaro to the winner’s circle in Super Gas.

In Top Alcohol Dragster, it was a great side by side race with No. 1 qualifier Severance taking out the No. 2 qualifier Shawn Cowie on a holeshot.  Cowie, Surrey, B.C., ran the quicker 5.395 second pass but Severance, Woodburn, Ore., left first and posted a solid 5.418 second lap at 266.48 mph for the win.

Reigning NHRA Central Region Champion Lombardo knocked out Kris Hool, Evansville, Wyo., in round one then cruised to victory in the Top Alcohol Funny Car final when local runner Bill Bernard, Littleton, Colo., left early with a foul start.

BIONDO AND ARAGONA LEAD WINNER’S CIRCLE IN ENGLISHTOWN

ENGLISHTOWN, NJ – Peter Biondo and Frank Aragona powered their way through competition to victory Sunday at the 48th annual NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

Aragona, Freedhold, N.J., secured his first win at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, as Pete Hanratty, Speonk, N.Y., fouled at the starting line. Aragona registered his winning pass of 8.282 seconds, 112.93 mph in Comp Eliminator.

Biondo, Maspeth, N.Y., battled through six rounds in the Stock Eliminator field to face off against local racer Russel Linke, Old Bridge, N.J. The New Yorker silenced the New Jersey home crowd as he cruised to his 52nd national event win on a breakout by Linke. Biondo recorded his victory pass of 10.372 seconds, 126.83 mph. Linke runner upped at 10.703 seconds, 123.93 mph.

NHRA JR. DRAG RACING WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS BRINGS THE BEST YOUNG DRAG RACERS TO TULSA RACEWAY PARK

TULSA, OK – Osage Tulsa Raceway Park will host the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing Western Conference Finals event presented by Huddleston Performance June 14-16.  NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League racers from across the United States, ages 6 to 17 years, will compete for team and individual honors and a share of the event purse.

Teams of drivers in eight age categories drive half-scale dragsters powered by five-horsepower engines that may reach speeds up to 85 mph.  They can cover the eighth-mile track in as quick as 7.90 seconds.  Also in competition is the Jr. Comp class for racers 16 years and older, which run as fast as 110 mph in 6.90 seconds.

STOCK/SUPER STOCK SHOOTOUT RETURNS TO TORONTO MOTORSPORTS PARK

Top racers from across North America to compete for a $25,000 USD total purse

MONTREAL — As part of the PCRichard.com NHRA Northeast Division National Open Series, the much anticipated Stock/Super Stock Shootout returns June 16, 17 and 18, to the Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario.

Following the success of its previous edition, this year’s event, which includes two races, has a total purse of $25,000 USD. Presented by John Scotti Classic Cars/CDRHF.com, the Stock/Super Stock Shootout will welcome some of the best racers from Connecticut, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada.

“The positive feedback we received from last year’s edition encouraged us to increase the 2017 purse and make the event even bigger,” says John Scotti. “Last year, 72 cars ran in the elimination on both days.  This year, we already have over 100 racers registered. Fans of the sport will be blown-away by the caliber and skill on display.”

THACKER, GIPSON, AND DAHLEM WIN BIG IN JOILET

JOILET, IL – Illinois standouts; Top Alcohol Dragster driver Marty Thacker, Robinson, Ill., Stock Eliminator driver Bob Gipson, Port Byron, Ill., and Dave Dahlem, Tremont, Ill., in Super Gas all took home Wally trophies in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, North Central Division Burndown at Sundown, at Route 66 Raceway.

Thacker had an easy day in the office as Kirk Wolf, Ceadar Creek, Texas, broke shortly after takeoff in the Top Alcohol Dragster final round. Thacker, coasted to victory at 7.686 seconds, 117.40 mph.

The Stock Eliminator final round came down to the wire as Gipson had the .001 reaction time advantage to eke out the victory over Steven Dziorny, Leonard, Mich., 11.892 seconds, 110.94 mph. Gipson finished at 11.700 seconds, 111.90 mph.
