FUNNY CAR’S MATT HAGAN JOINS ELITE COMPANY BY EARNING FOURTH NHRA FUNNY CAR WORLD TITLE
INDIANAPOLIS – It wasn’t the exact way Matt Hagan had planned to win his fourth NHRA Funny Car world championship, but it was the final point that showed his championship was about an overall impressive body of work and not just one particular run.
The strong season from start to finish proved to be pivotal, as Hagan took the points lead into the final event of the NHRA season, the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals. It proved to be the difference, too, in a tightly-contested points battle between Hagan, Robert Hight and Bob Tasca III.
The trio was only separated by 17 points heading into the finale, but in a wild turn of events, each lost in the second round on Sunday at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip. That meant the championship belonged to Hagan and his 11,000-horsepower Dodge Direct Connection Charger SRT Hellcat, securing a distinct honor for the longtime standout.

It also will mark the 2024 debut for the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge, a specialty program that started in 2023 and brought competitive racing to the Saturday schedule.
Fans in Pomona got a taste of that event specialty race last year – one with championship bonus points and a bonus purse on the line – and it returns with great fanfare in 2024 to a track steeped in history. A year ago, the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals also marked the first official race with the In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip name, a change that brought noteworthy updates to the facility.

MISSION FOODS ENTERS MULTI-YEAR DEAL AS TITLE SPONSOR OF NHRA’S PREMIER PROFESSIONAL SERIES
NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series will also include Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge at 14 races in 2024 after successful debut this season
INDIANAPOLIS – The NHRA and Mission Foods, the world’s leading brand for tortillas and wraps, announced today that Mission Foods has been named the title sponsor of the NHRA’s premier professional series, which will be known as the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series beginning with the 2024 season.
The multi-year professional series title partnership will be in full swing starting next year as the NHRA celebrates its 73rd year in 2024, and comes after a successful first-year partnership between the two companies this season. Mission Foods and NHRA partnered together this year for the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge, introducing competitive racing – as well as a bonus purse and bonus playoff points – to Saturday qualifying. The overwhelming success of the current program helped lead to the expansion of the series title partnership for Mission Foods, which will include significant activation at the track and nearby store locations for all 21 national events.
The popular Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge will return in 2024 as part of the growing partnership, increasing to 14 regular-season events, including the two four-wide races, and offering an increased purse. The series title partnership and the Challenge continue Mission Foods’ overall motorsports initiative to help racers and race teams.
