Krista Baldwin Heads Down to Texas with Scott Palmer Racing and Red Line Oil

Ennis, TX – Top Fuel team owner and driver, Krista Baldwin, will be filling in for Scott Palmer in his PBR Top Fuel dragster entry for the Texas NHRA FallNationals this weekend at the Texas Motorplex. In addition to a new ride, Baldwin welcomes Red Line Oil as a partner for her Top Fuel journey. With the capability of running in the 3.7 second range, Baldwin is eager to get down to Texas and get to business with the SPR 5050 team.

A few weeks ago Scott Palmer suffered an on track incident with his nitro powered Studebaker. With a broken wrist and some other injuries, he would not be able to compete in this weekend’s Stampede of Speed. With Baldwin actively looking for a new chassis for her program, this opportunity presented itself at just the right time.

“I have been tirelessly looking for a new chassis for my Top Fuel program,” says Baldwin. “And now that we are in the thick of the countdown, many teams are not even thinking of what they are going to do in the off-season, let alone when they will be getting a new car. When Palmer called, I knew this was the perfect next step.”

Krista Baldwin to Honor Her Late Father at the NHRA World Finals

POMONA, CA – Top Fuel team owner and driver Krista Baldwin will be honoring her late father, Bobby Baldwin, at the NHRA World Finals this weekend. Baldwin will be racing under the blue and white scheme that her father made notorious in the late 1990’s to early 2000’s. This will be the first time that Krista will be running her McLeod Racing, Lucas Oil Top Fuel dragster at her home track. In addition to the throwback scheme, Baldwin welcomes a slew of new sponsors to her program with Mainline Sales. She looks forward to having an action-packed weekend back at home at the Fairplex.

Krista Baldwin was born and raised just a few miles from the Pomona drag strip in Upland, CA. Her father, Bobby Baldwin, was an independent Top Fuel driver from the 1980s to 2001. Bobby owned a land grading business in Upland, but grew up just over the hill of Fairplex Drive. Ever since he was a kid, he never missed a Winternationals or World Finals either as a spectator or a competitor.

“I grew up at Pomona,” says Krista Baldwin. “My childhood was all about watching my dad and my grandpa race Top Fuel, but I especially remember being with my dad at Pomona. One of his last races he attended was the 50th anniversary race in July of 2001 held at Pomona. To return to my hometown with a Top Fuel car is a complete dream come true. I have sat in the stands at 24-24 for 29 years and now I am actually competing in Top Fuel. I would fantasize as a kid of what it will be like to race Pomona and now, I get to actually experience it.”

Krista Baldwin Kicks Off the 2022 Season in Top Fuel Dragster at the Gatornationals

PITTSBORO, IN – Krista Baldwin will begin her second season of Top Fuel Dragster competition in Gainesville, FL at the Gatornationals. As a new team owner in the class, she welcomes McLeod Racing and Lucas Oil back as major marketing partners. With a new year, the former Chris Karamesines dragster entry has a new look for the 2022 season. She plans to make an 8-10 race schedule across the country with the NHRA Camping World Series.

Coming off of a successful rookie year, Baldwin has strategically planned for another consistent season.

“Over the course of my rookie year, I have learned how much it really takes to make this nitro beast go down the track,” says Baldwin, third generation Top Fuel driver. “From travel logistics, to cost, to crew, to learning how to drive the car, and knowing what I can build on. I am confident that I will run more 3.80’s this year. But I know what my part conditions are and what my budget is. And I have to be mindful of that.”

Over the course of the winter, Baldwin has acquired the entire operation of her grandfather, Chris “the Greek” Karamesines.
