Bush and D’Aprile Determined and Persistent Heading into NHRA Carolina Nationals

Elma, NY (September 16, 2009)– As Mel Bush and Driver, Tommy D’Aprile, head to Concord, NC for this weekend’s NHRA Carolina Nationals at Bruton Smith’s Zmax Dragway, “the Bellagio of dragstrips”, the duo are determined to crack the tough Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge presented by ProCare Rx field.

“Running with the NHRA Pro Mods is a tough deal but I know we can run with those guys. We finished last season running in the fives on a consistent basis and I don’t see why we shouldn’t be there now. I’m focused on us doing well at this race,” said team Owner, Mel Bush.

The team’s recent DNQ from the recently completed U.S Nationals seems to be a driving force for the Bush team.

With qualifying shortened to just two sessions the Mel Bush Motorsports team was left on the outside looking in. The DNQ from the event has driven the team to search for answers. After a recent test session in Mooresville, NC the team found what was holding them back and is prepared for the Carolina Nationals.

“We had some mishaps in Indy so we took the time to make a few hits before the Carolina race and we found what was hurting us,” said D’Aprile.  “We had a new intake on the car that we received at the end of last season. It seems that the manufacturer has made some changes to the manifold since then but we were unaware. Now the problem is corrected an I think we’re sure we can return to our last season form.”

Pro Modified qualifying for the NHRA Carolina Nationals will begin on Friday with sessions at 2:00 and 5:30 p.m. Saturday the Pro Mods will have one more qualifier scheduled for 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. Qualifying will wrap up Sunday at 1:00p.m. First round of eliminations are set for 4:30 p.m. Saturday evening. The final rounds of eliminations will be contested Sunday during professional eliminations.
