With his poker face on, Arana Sr. looking to win big at The Strip

LAS VEGAS – Heading to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Hector Arana Sr. feels like he’ll be leaving Las Arana SrVegas hitting the jackpot during the NHRA Toyota Nationals, Oct. 31-Nov. 2.

“We went over the engines like usual as a preliminary check,” Arana said. “Other than that we didn’t really change anything. Why change something that was working well at the last race?

“We just want to go to Vegas relaxed, roll the dice, go with the flow, and see what happens.”

With his Lucas Oil Buell running the best it has all season long, Arana is motivated to have the results reflect his hard work. Heading into a track where the entire Arana Racing team has had success, he is confident that this is a weekend that they could dominate.

“I always enjoy when we get to this point in the season,” Arana said. “I feel so much more relaxed and enjoy riding in that state of mind. What’s good about having three bikes is you have other input being brought in. That makes things easier, especially at a track where we run well such as Vegas.

“I know if we ran like we did at the last race, we can bring the win home. That’s my focus at this time.”

Obviously as a racer, “Hector the Hammer” always wants to be the one capturing the Wally whenever possible. However, with him and his youngest son still chasing their first wins this season, he would love to make that dream a reality.

“What we have right now is what we have for the last two races,” Arana said. “There’s nothing to improve now that would make a huge difference. If anything, any changes would help us get ready for next year.

“With that being said, a win for our team would be huge. It would be even better if we ended the season with Adam and with myself winning as well. I would be the happiest then if we all ended 2014 with a win.”

Qualifying sessions are scheduled for 1 and 4 p.m. PT, Friday and Saturday. Eliminations will start at approximately noon, Sunday, with both qualifying and elimination action broadcast on ESPN2 on tape-delay basis.
