CAYUGA, ON – When the competitors in the Pro Modified Racing Association take to the track this weekend at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park,  not only will the 2011 champion be crowned, three event winners will also be declared.

The final elimination in the fourth round of the six-race PMRA season was postponed from the August 5-7 race at Grand Bend, and although qualifying was completed at the recent “Thunder by the Beach” race at Grand Bend, elimination rounds were postponed in this fifth race due to rain.

So this September 9-11 final appearance for 2011 will see event winners in both round four and round five of the season, along with a complete qualifying/elimination event at Cayuga. PMRA officials will finish the fifth race before completing the fourth race final.

Eric Latino and Jeff Roth will take to the track as PMRA finalists in the fourth race. Latino, of Whitby, Ontario, is second in the PMRA Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport with 1250 points, and Roth, from Kitchener, Ontario, is in fourth with 1231 points. Leading at present is Vito Montesano of Maple, Ontario with 1260 points, and Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario is in third with 1248 points.

For the recently scrubbed Labour Day race at Grand Bend, Latino qualified number one, while Roth qualified number eight, and are paired to race against each other in the first round of eliminations for this rescheduled race at Cayuga.

Driving the Jay De Santos Camaro, Mike Stawicki of Medina, New York qualified this car in second spot, and he is to go up against Gary Irving of Toronto, Ontario, in the Al Hinds Corvette which qualified seventh. Montesano qualified number four and will be pitted with Jack Grainy of Tonawanda, New York, who qualified fifth.

Boland qualified number three in the field, and his first-round opponent will be Derek Hawker of Corbyville, Ontario, who qualified sixth.

While right now it is impossible to declare an ultimate victor, one this is certain. This weekend, September 9-11 will be an interesting and exciting race at Cayuga Dragway.

Racing is scheduled to begin at noon Saturday, September 10.

The Cayuga race, September 9-11, will complete the seventh season of the PMRA, the third season of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the inaugural season of the PBSS.
