Waterman Racing Named Official Gear Pump of Mid-West Pro Mod Series

TULSA, OK – The Frankenstein Engine Dynamics Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS) is proud to announce Waterman Racing Components as its official gear pump for the 2018 racing season. Purchased in January 2017 by Aeromotive founder and president Steve Matusek, Waterman maintains facilities in Indianapolis and Charlotte.

“Between Waterman Racing and Aeromotive, we can fuel anything from a Jr. Dragster all the way up to a Top Fuel car, including street performance, marine applications and everything in between,” Matusek stated. “For nitrous, blower and turbocharged Pro Mods, Waterman Racing has been the premier mechanical gear pump manufacturer for years, so we’re going to use that brand to sponsor the Mid-West Pro Mod Series because if it’s not a hundred percent of the class that uses Waterman gear pumps it’s darn near close.”

Matusek explained each entrant will receive coupons as they come through the gate at each MWPMS event this year to purchase Aeromotive and/or Waterman components at a discounted rate. Meanwhile, MWPMS organizer and promoter Keith Haney, who also competes in the series, confirmed he will have several Waterman Racing and Aeromotive products available for racer purchase through his own team merchandise trailer.

“We’re very happy to welcome Steve and everyone at Waterman Racing and Aeromotive to the Frankenstein Engine Dynamics Mid-West Pro Mod Series,” Haney said. “I’ve known Steve a long time, but he’s a first-time sponsor with us this year and we’re all looking forward to helping him grow his businesses as we grow ourselves.”

Matusek, who drives a supercharged ’68 Camaro in the NHRA Pro Mod class, added he plans to attend some MWPMS events as his schedule permits, but hopes to at least have a staff member present at each event “to wave the Aeromotive/Waterman flag and provide good customer service” to MWPMS competitors.

“The thing is, we’re a relatively small company so it’s important for us to carefully choose who we get involved with. For us to get involved and just put up a banner and provide decals, that’s just not the kind of company we are; we like to get engaged and I think we now have that ability with Waterman Racing to get involved and make a difference in what I believe is a growing and very important series,” he said.

“It seems like it’s got a lot of momentum and it’s got really great people running it. Because let’s face it, business is all about people and these people, starting with Keith, are passionate about what they’re doing and they really want to take care of their sponsors and racers. So they’re mixing this great business acumen with a passion for Pro Mod drag racing and what you’re seeing is a growing, successful venture. And that’s where the magic is, as far as I’m concerned.”

The 2018 Frankenstein Engine Dynamics Mid-West Pro Mod Series season opens Mar. 2-3, at the brand-new Xtreme Motorsports Park in Trumbull, TX, near Dallas.
