TREADWELL, ANDERSON LEAD LUCAS OIL WINNERS

CHARLOTTE, NC – In the final results from zMAX Dragway and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Jenny LODRSTreadwell scored in Comp Eliminator and Jonathan Anderson bagged his third win of the year in Super Street.  Treadwell, Mont Plymouth, Fla., lined up against Randy Daniels, Grantsboro, N.C., and won it at the start with a .009 second reaction time to Daniels .180.  She then ran it out to an 8.290 second 157.69 mph lap.

Anderson, out of Griffin, Ga., won on a double breakout with Michelle Furr, Galax, Va., 10.895 to a 10.891 to collect his third win of the year having won the season opener in Gainesville, Fla., and the second half of the double-header in Atlanta two weeks ago.

Greg Slack, Albemarle, N.C., and Tommy Corbett, Hampton, Va., both won for the first time of their careers.  Slack went seven rounds for his NHRA Wally trophy in beating Eric Mann, Trinity, N.C., in Super Comp.  Corbett  was better at both ends of the track in Super Gas to knock out Clint Lindsey, Montgomery, Ala.  Corbett drove his ’93 Daytona to a 9.920 second, 150.40 mph pass.

David Rampy won for the 48th time on the division circuit taking the easy win in Super Stock when Bucky Hess broke in his semifinal win and was unable to make the call.  Rampy cruised his ’87 Camaro down the quarter mile on his victory lap.

In probably the closest race of the weekend, Hickory Enclosed Trailer Top Dragster pilot Angela Travis, Conover, N.C., went 6.586 at 203.03 to nip Casey Spradlin, Ranburne, Ala., by about an inch with a margin of victory of .0003 seconds.  The win was her first in just her second final round.

Jeff Brooks was a tick better off the start in the Davis Golf Cart Top Sportsman final but could not run down Shawn Marrow, Piedmont, S.C., and his ’03 Mustang who clocked in at 7.617 seconds, 176.56 mph for the win.

In Stock Eliminator, Adam Davis from Eva, Ala., clocked in at 11.004 on his 11.00 dial for the win over Jim Roberts, Portsmouth, R.I., to round out the winners.

Most of these racers will be back at zMAX next weekend when they will be joined by the racers of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series for the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals presented by Lowes Foods.
