Toyota NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Top Fuel | Funny Car Report – Norwalk

Todd Keeps Climbing… J.R. Todd continues to work his way up the NHRA Funny Car point standings. After advancing to the semi-finals last week at Bristol, the DHL Camry driver moved into fourth place – 42 points out of second. In just his second year in Funny Cars, Todd has advanced to the semi-finals or beyond five times in the last eight races, including wins at Las Vegas and Houston. Over the last 21 races, Todd is tied for the most wins (four) in Funny Car with Courtney Force and Robert Hight.

Brown Regaining Form… Three-time Top Fuel world champion Antron Brown’sToyota team continues to round into form after a number of off-season changes. After advancing to the semi-finals at Richmond, Brown qualified third at Bristol and then registered the quickest pass of any driver on race day.

Winning in Norwalk… Current Toyota drivers have won three of the last four Top Fuel events at the Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park with Shawn Langdon(2016), Doug Kalitta(2015) and Brown(2014) each having taken home a Wally in Ohio. Toyota’s success at the track goes much further, though, with Khalid al Balooshi (2013), Del Worsham(2011) and Larry Dixon (2009 and 2010) each earning victories as Toyota Top Fuel drivers.
