Summit Racing Named Official MWPMS Sponsor and Event Title Rights Holder

TULSA, OK – The Frankenstein Engine Dynamics Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS) is proud to welcome Summit Racing Equipment as its official speed shop and parts supplier. Additionally, Summit Racing has been named the title sponsor for the MWPMS event Sept. 7-8, at Trumbull, TX.

“We’re very excited about Summit Racing Equipment joining us as both a full-season sponsor and the title rights holder for our race at the brand-new Xtreme Raceway Park,” stated Keith Haney, owner and promoter of the Tulsa-based drag racing organization. “Summit Racing is a huge company and very well-known in all forms of motorsports, so for them to come on board with the Mid-West Pro Mod Series is a great vote of confidence in the strength of our series. It shows they have faith in what we’re doing and what we say we’re going to do.”

In addition to the flagship store and mail-order headquarters in Tallmadge, OH, Summit Racing operates retail outlets in Sparks, NV, McDonough, GA, and Arlington, TX. Summit Racing Motorsports and Events Manager Jim Greenleaf explained a visit to the Arlington store this spring led to him attending the MWPMS season opener at the Texas Motorplex.

“We had some other events going on that were rained out that weekend so I got a chance to see the Mid-West Pro Mod Series for the first time and what was really impressive, especially since they made a venue change on short notice, is they really drew a nice crowd to the Motorplex. We had worked with the track there to promote the event through our retail store and to see the quality of cars, the level of performance, and the competition was really exciting, just a heck of a show,” Greenleaf said.

“(Motorplex general manager) Andy Carter introduced me to Keith there, too. We obviously had seen Keith out racing and knew a little of his history, but it was just cool to finally get to meet him. I really was excited about the program he had put together.”

Negotiations between Greenleaf and Haney continued shortly after that meeting, leading to today’s announcement.

“With the opening of the new store in Arlington, Summit Racing is obviously expanding their brand in the Midwest area and for Jim and everyone at Summit to recognize the value of supporting the Mid-West Pro Mod Series, from the drag radial classes and all the way to Pro Mod, well, I couldn’t be happier or more excited,” Haney said.

“Them coming on board is even strong for all the other sponsors that are currently with us because a lot of them offer their products and parts online through SummitRacing.com. To just think of Summit’s actual reach socially, their reach customer base, their reach racer base, they’re just everywhere in drag racing. And it’s also going to draw fans to the race tracks just as much because they’re going to be talking and encouraging people to come see the racers and cars of the Mid-West Pro Mod Series. This is a big deal for us.”

Greenleaf agreed, saying the proximity of MWPMS events to the new Summit Racing store in Texas helped convince him the time was right to get involved.

“We’re happy about supporting events at the Motorplex and the new track, Xtreme Raceway Park, since they’re practically in the backyard of our newest store in Texas,” he said. “And really, as I spoke with Keith to get his philosophy of why he does what he does, I knew it was a great opportunity for us to give back and help him and his race teams be able to do what they need to in order to get those cars down the track at quality facilities.”

The Frankenstein Engine Dynamics Mid-West Pro Mod Series returns to action next weekend (Apr. 20-22), as part of the Outlaw Street Car Reunion at Beech Bend Raceway Park in southern Kentucky.
