Summit Motorsports Park & Total Venue Concepts Partner for 2017 Shakedown at the Summit

Plans have been put into place for Summit Motorsports Park and Total Venue Concepts to partner for the Summit Racing Equipment Shakedown at the Summit 15 presented by Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels, Sept. 14-17, 2017 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

According to park president Bill Bader, Jr., Total Venue Concepts’ Kurt Johnson will collaborate with the park’s marketing team and track manager, Sam Lance, for the event’s marketing and track preparation.

“Shakedown is a really unique event for us, and it’s starting to take on its own identity,” said Bader, Jr. “Because of that, we want to do everything we can to ensure its continued success.”

Categories contested at the event heavy on high horsepower and high wheelies include ProLine Pro Mod, Precision Turbo and Engine Outlaw 10.5, Speedwire Systems Outlaw Limited Street, Holbrook Racing Engines Top Sportsman, Wiseco X275, Callies Pro Street, Team Z Motorsports Ultra Street and Trick Flow Specialties Open Comp.

The colossal combined purse of $150,500 includes $66,600 for the event’s quickest and fastest category, ProLine Pro Mod, and $40,000 of that is given to the winner, who in 2016 was Flash Fiscus. Additionally, the G-Force Race Cars/Resolution Racing Services Money Shot is a special feature of the event which guarantees that the driver of the quickest and fastest ProLine Pro Mod vehicle receives $5,000.

Records are regularly set at the event, and in 2016, Team Z Motorsports Ultra Street driver Shawn Pevlor pushed his Mustang to a 4.763 and 148 mph to set the elapsed-time record for Ultra Street, and Team Z Motorsports Ultra Street driver Martin Connelley piloted Eddie McCarty’s Mustang to a 4.99 to become the first driver with an 8.2 deck nitrous-fed engine to dip into the 4s in Ultra Street.

“Summit Motorsports Park already has a good arsenal of equipment, and Total Venue Concepts will bring its rotating drag, Hook Master 8400 static drag and Hook Master traction compound sprayer,” said Johnson, who has extensive experience in preparing a track to work wonders for both big-tired and small-tired vehicles. “Shakedown is an iconic race with an extremely high caliber of cars, and I think it can be one of the fastest races in the country because of the immaculate track surface and possible weather conditions, and it will be the biggest race of the year. I definitely see 3.70s in radial action with the weather conditions that time of year. This thing is going to rock, and the opportunity to be involved in it is huge to me.”

Summit Motorsports Park is at 1300 State Route 18, Norwalk, Ohio. For more information, please call 419-668-5555 or visit www.summitmotorsportspark.com.
