Students Have Stage at University of Northwestern Ohio High School Nationals

Classmates can climb into their cars and cruise down track at the 30th Annual University of Northwestern Ohio High School Nationals presented by Patriot 500 Racing on Sept. 9, 2018 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

The fun-filled event, which was originally to take place in the spring before being rescheduled for fall, will see students from several area schools, and the winner of the race will receive a $10,000 University of Northwestern Ohio scholarship as well as a tall trophy. The runner-up will receive a $5,000 scholarship, and the semifinalists will receive $4,000 scholarships while quarterfinalists will receive $2,000 scholarships.

Additionally, as students win rounds, they earn points for their schools, and the winning school will receive a trophy. There also will be separate races for instructors, parents and alumni, with trophies given to the winner and runner-up of the instructors’ race and the winner, runner-up and semifinalists of the alumni race.

Adding to the energy and excitement of the event are the always popular Jostens Burnout contest, Jostens Car Cram and Jostens Ugliest Working Wreck. Gates open at 8 a.m., with time-trials beginning at 8:30 a.m. Admission costs $12 for racers and spectators. Admission is free for children 12 and younger.
