Spradlin looking for 3rd Straight NHRA Gatornationals Final Round

The Southeastern Hose backed championship winning Spradlin Motorsports Top Dragster team heads into this weekend’s 49th edition of the NHRA Gatornationals hoping to advance to the final round for the 3rd straight year.  While the team has made a host of changes during the off season, the great sponsors that make it possible for Spradlin Motorsports to chase championships remain loyal.   Returning for a sixth year is primary sponsor Southeastern Hose, manufacturer of high pressure hose and expansion joints for industrial applications.  Also continuing their association with the team are Lucas Oil, NGK Spark plugs, CP Carrillo, Ford’s Fuel featuring Renegade Racing Fuels, TCI, and Smith Brothers Pushrods.

Spradlin will be returning to Gainesville, Florida with their new Miller Race Cars supercharged alcohol injected 1800 horsepower Top Dragster they debuted at this past weekend’s NHRA Southeast division 2 Lucas Oil Series event also in Gainesville.  “The division event was a great place to shake down our new to us Miller Race Cars chassis,” Spradlin assessed.  “We achieved a career best speed and E.T with a 6.19 second quarter-mile time at 218 MPH!  Although the race result were not what we wanted we are glad to have had the chance get the car ready for our ultimate goal of closing the deal in the final round of the Gatornationals.”  Spradlin lost in the final round of the 47th Gatornationals to eventual national champion Jeff Strickland in the Top Dragster class.  Then while racing in the Top Sportsman class at the 48th running of the event, he fell to another eventual national champion, Jeffery Barker.

The other major change during the off season was the decision for the team to focus only on the Top Dragster class.  “Racing in the two fastest true sportsman classes since 2009 has really been rewarding and also a lot of ‘late nights in the garages’,” Spradlin borrows from the lyrics of a PJ North song.  “We were ready to scale back our work load and be able to spend more time away from the shop while maybe attending a few more bracket races as well. Southeastern Hose is a very family oriented company and were very understanding of our desire to spend more time with our family. They are really a great sponsor and God has blessed our team with this partnership as well as all of our supporters.”

Spradlin Motorsports will be pursuing a 4th division championship and also has national championship aspirations.  For more information about the team and schedule of events, please visit our website at spradlinmotorsports.com and also our facebook page at facebook.com/spradlinmotorsports.
