COMMERCE, GA – For the second race in a row, Roy Hill is prepared to deliver a one-two punch to the competition in Super Stock, as he and veteran sportsman driver Grant Lewis will team up in a pair of Phoenix Racing 2010 Ford Mustang Cobra Jets at the 31st annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals.

The team had a solid outing at the 24th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Spring Nationals held two weeks ago in Baytown, TX. Hired gun Dewayne Custer qualified number one and Hill took his Coca-Cola / Alsco Cobra Jet all the way to the semifinals. Hill and company will be looking to build upon that success and take it a step further at Atlanta Dragway.

“We’re going to have my longtime friend Grant Lewis in the second car this weekend, and it’s a perfect fit,” Hill said of the Jesup, GA racer. “He has a Comp car, and he’s a heck of a Super Stock racer too. I’m going to move over to the B/Automatic car and Grant is going to be wheeling the A/Automatic for this race. Team owner James Finch and myself handpicked him to drive the car this weekend, and he’s bringing Jacky Jones Ford along with him as an associate sponsor.”

Jacky Jones Ford has been serving the Cleveland, GA area for nearly twenty years, and is also the dealership where James Finch purchased his first 2010 Cobra Jet. That purchase has since led to Finch owning a fleet of the cars under his Phoenix Racing banner.

“Jacky will have one of the new 2012 Cobra Jets on display at the track, along with one of the new F-350 dual cab trucks,” said Hill, the Sophia, NC native and drag racing school owner. “So stop by and see us and get a look at these awesome new Fords.”

A winner of ten national events, Grant Lewis has had success in a multitude of sportsman categories. At Atlanta alone he has taken home Wallys in Stock, Super Stock, and Competition Eliminator.

“My goal for this race is to represent Ford, James Finch, and Roy Hill as well as possible, and the best way to do that is with a win,” Lewis said. “I’ve known Roy since the ‘70s, and I consider him one of my true friends. It’s an honor to race with him. I’m going to be pulling double duty this weekend, racing my own Comp car as well, so it’s going to be busy and exciting. You can be as good as you want to be, but you’ve got to have a little luck to win these races, and I’m hoping luck is on my side.”

In addition to this weekend’s national event, Hill is also looking forward to the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series race that will be held at Atlanta Dragway next weekend.

“After we’re through with the national event, we’re looking for another driver to jump in one of the Cobra Jets here in Atlanta,” Hill said. “Our goal is for them to pick up points at the race next weekend that we can carry to our next national event. So keep your eye out; you never know who you’re going to see behind the wheel of one of these Cobra Jets!”
