Racers Take Home Big Money at IHRA ATI Performance Products Sportsman Spectacular presented by Hagerty and Moser Engineering at Maryland International Raceway

MECHANICSVILLE, MD — The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) ATI Performance Products Sportsman Spectacular presented by Hagerty and Moser Engineering returned this weekend with thrilling competition at Maryland International Raceway, Saturday and Sunday.

Strong car counts of 300 cars on Saturday and Sunday, continuing the theme of the 2020 IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Hagerty and Moser Engineering season.

In the Top finals Saturday, Tarrell Sinkler from Baltimore, Md., took home the win and the $5,000 prize over Bobby Spence from Rockville, Md.  Sinkler had a 5.215 second pass at 128.76 mph. Spence had a quicker but losing 4.732 second pass at 143.38 mph.

In the Mod finals on Saturday, Frank Thompson from Mechanicsville, Md, defeated Donald Jones from Glen Burnie, Md to take home the $2,500 prize. Thompson had a final pass of 5.989 second at 108.73 mph coupled with a .023 reaction time.  Jones had a final pass of 5.878 second at 117.13 mph coupled with a .059 reaction time.

In the Junior Dragster final Saturday, Hannah Franck from Mechanicsville, Md took home the win over Ryleigh Nebel from Mechanicsville, Md.  Franck had a winning pass of 7.941 second at 80.01 seconds. Nebel had a final pass of 8.010 seconds at 82.57 mph.

The thrilling action continued Sunday with drivers competing in Top for $5,000 and Mod for $2,500 prizes.

In the Top final on Sunday, Donna Nelson from Valley Lee, Md defeated Tom Lakey from Suffolk, Va. Nelson had a final pass of 6.905 seconds at 97.62 mph. Lakey had a final pass of 5.807 seconds at 118.98 mph.

In the Mod Finals on Sunday, Mike Upole from Glen Burnie, Md., defeated Bernie Pyles from Millersville, Md. Upole had a winning pass of 5.983 seconds at 112.41 mph.  Pyles who redlighted with a -.011-reaction time had a final run of 5.479 seconds at 114.02 mph.

In the Junior Dragster Finals on Sunday, Hunter Groat from Hollywood, Md., defeated Davis Montgomery from King William, Va. Groat had a final pass of 8.136 seconds at 70.66 mph with a -.006-reaction time.  Montgomery had a final pass of 9.119 second at 53.52 mph with a -.028-reaction time.

The IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Hagerty and Moser Engineering heads to the final event of the season September 12 at Amarillo Dragway, Amarillo, Texas.
