PRITCHETT WINS SAM FACTORY STOCK SHOWDOWN NHRA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

ENNIS, TX – In the final results from the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at Texas Motorplex, Leah Pritchett, Redlands, Calif., and Kevin Skinner, Grove City, Ohio, both worked their way through the field to meet up in the final round and a winner take all for the SAM Factory Stock Showdown World Championship.

Pritchett and Skinner had a close start of the line with Skinner in the lead at the 300-foot mark until his car made a quick move allowing Pritchett to go around and pull away for the win and the championship. Pritchett had a late charge in the season making this her 3rd consecutive win in the SAM Factory Stock Showdown.

Joey Severance, Woodburn, Ore., and Sean Bellemeur, Placentia, Calif., took home the wins in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car respectively.


Severance, defending NHRA Lucas Oil World Champion, was victorious with the quickest pass of the weekend at 5.236 seconds at 273.55 mph in his final round victory over Alan Bradshaw, Odessa, Texas, who clocked in at 5.342 seconds, 270.00 mph.

Top Alcohol Funny Car points leader Bellemeur faced off against Doug Gordon, Paso Robles, Calif. and posted a winning run of 5.513 seconds, 265.43 mph in his Chevy Camaro. Gordon, drove to a 5.513 second, 265.43 mph lap for his runner up finish. The win puts Bellemeur one step closer to clinching the NHRA Lucas Oil Top Alcohol Funny Car Championship.

Clint Neff, Arvada, Colo., in Comp Eliminator and Brandon Bakies, Alexandria, La., in Super Stock both ran against David Rampy, Piedmont, Ala., who advanced to the final in both classes and was hoping for his 100th NHRA national event win this weekend. Neff had the starting line advantage and made a winning pass of 7.573 seconds, 172.36 mph to deny Rampy. In Super Stock Rampy had the starting line advantage, but Bakies chased him down to get the win with a pass of 9.688 seconds and at 132.88 mph.

Other racers visiting the winner’s circle this weekend were, Brian McClanahan Alta Loma, Calif., in Stock; Jackson Collier, Benton, La., in Super Comp; Casey Plaizier, Stony Plain, AB., in Super Gas; and Val Harmon, Boutte, La., in Super Street. In Top Sportsman presented by Racing RV’s it was Lance Rutland, Spring, Texas, taking the win while Darian Boesch, Kenner, La., won in the Top Dragster class presented by Racing RV’s.
