Orlando, Fl – With the past few ADRL events being double-headers, it is hard to believe that all this action is being packed into one weekend… again. It’s almost getting difficult to keep up with what races are what, who has qualified, and which races are raced which days. So, here is the rundown for Titan’s August 6-7th ADRL weekend.
Friday was the make-up day for the Independence Drags held in Topeka last month. The Scion qualified #1 for this race, with a 3.986 at 185.61mph, so the crew was eager to finish it off strong. Round one of eliminations was a bye run so we’ll pick things up in the second. In round two, Gary lines up with Judd Coffman. Coffman ended up rolling the beam, Gary ended up super loose, but at the end, it was the Scion that moved on.
In round 3 it was Dustin Miller’s turn to dance, but it was Gary White and the Titan Scion that was to set the tune. Miller got a big starting line advantage, but ran into problems down the track. The Scion blasted down the track with a 4.047 at 184.02, posting the fastest time of the day. In the finals, Titan was set to face-off with Jeff Naiser. Gary blasted out of the gate first and never looked back. Naiser ran into some trouble half way down the track and had to shut it off. The Scion posted another fast time of the day with a 4.003 at 185.79.

Our friend, that fickle woman Ms Lady Luck appears to have deserted us. We survived the first races of the 2010 season with a lot of her magic. And after St Louis with the rained out Topeka race included we knew she was off and gone to help some other wayward soul. With our spare motor planted between the frame rails on the off weekend between Houston and St Louis we were ready once again to give our fellow ADRL warriors a run for their money. Or so we thought!
On our first qualifier John informed me that he had no oil pressure at the end of the burnout. So for the first time in our short ADRL career we pushed the car off to the side after John backed up through the water box. Strike ONE!
On our second attempt John had to pedal the Camaro when it started to light the tires at the top of low gear. Strike TWO!

Boise, ID – The Don Carter Motorsports team had a great weekend of racing at one of the biggest events on the West Coast, Firebird Raceway’s 39th annual Nightfire Nationals event.
For everyone on the team this was their first trip to Firebird Raceway in Boise, Idaho and they were all blown away with the quality of race track the New family runs, both on and off the racing surface. When talking to the team members many stated it was one of the greatest events they have ever attended, the win was just icing on the cake for them.
Driver, Bret Williamson, set the bar high his first time down the track in round 1 of qualifying when running a 6.21 taking the top qualifying spot. The team opted out of running the second qualifying session and was bumped down to the number 3 spot as John Scialpi ran a 6.17 and Randy Kay ran a 6.18. In the third and final session Bret blasted down Firebird Raceway’s quarter-mile in 6.09 seconds, easily setting a new Pro Mod track record and placing an 8-hundreths of a second gap between him and the number 2 qualifier (Scialpi at 6.17)!

Firebaugh, Ca – This upcoming weekend, Jay Diedrich and his Evil Outlaw 1957 Chevy will roll into Firebird Raceway in Boise, Idaho for the 39th annual Nightfire Nationals while running with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association. The Nightfire event is by far one of the biggest events on the West Coast and this will mark the first year the WCOPMA has run at the event.
Diedrich is starting to find the consistency needed to win races, his quick ET’s and fast MPH have been with him all season but consistency was lacking in the beginning. After winning his first pro mod event last month and running a career best ET at 6.11 he is more than ready to take on the best of the best on the West Coast in Boise.
Courtey of WCOPMA
With one of the largest racing events on the West Coast the Nightfire Nationals in Boise Idaho is set for August 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th, and the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association is ready to show up and race “Outlaw” style. The traditional Blower vs Nitrous are set to hit the track.
There are at this time twelve cars that are pre entered for this event and the racers that are showing up are some of the heavy hitters on the West Coast. There is a close points battle going on, so everyone is showing up with their A game on. The racers that are pre entered are Rod Burbage, Jay Diedrich, Dan Myers, Dennis Radford, Billy Harper, Bret Williamson, Garrett Richards, Greg Carlile, Randy Kay, John Scialpi, Marc Meadors and Rod Pearce. With phone calls and e-mails coming in daily as this event nears, there has been a lot of interest with a few other teams that are trying to make it, so this looks to be a great field of cars.
Parking will start on Thursday August 12th. Pro Mod will have three qualifying sessions: Friday August 12th at 7pm, Saturday 14th at 1pm and 7pm, and eliminations on Sunday at 4pm. The Nightfire Nationals is celebrating 39 years in 2010, and this is one event you will not want to miss.
