PMRA/Quick 32 Sportsman Series set schedule for 2011

CAYUGA, ONTARIO – The Pro Modified Racing Association, www.PMRA.ca, and the Quick 32 Sportsman Series 
presented by NAPA Auto Parts, www.Quick32.ca,is pleased to announce the 2011 racing schedule for both of these popular drag race series.
The PMRA will be entering its seventh year of competition, while the Quick 32 Sportsman Series will be starting its third season.
For 2011, the racing will consist of six events, and both the PMRA and Quick 32 Sportsman Series will compete together at all events.
10.0, 11.0, 12.0 INDEX CLASSES ADDED TO DIVISION 2 LUCAS OIL EVENTS

Gainesville, FL – The 2011 Division 2 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events will feature an addition of 3 select “index” 
classes to the program. All three index classes will be running for the coveted Wally trophy and will be collecting points toward the 2011 Division 2 Championship title.
Rules will parallel the popular NHRA Unleashed program and are available at www.nhraunleashed.com
· Deep staging is allowed in all index classes. Courtesy staging is not required. The tree is in Autostart mode, and will not be held to allow extra time to deep stage.
· Index classes will be laddered on a Sportsman ladder beginning 1st round.
· Index classes will be run on a Pro Tree.
· Delay boxes and/or timed throttle stops prohibited. Mechanical type throttle stops permitted. Any adjustment during the run prohibited. Timers of any kind associated with, but not limited to, fuel and/or nitrous delivery, throttle control, vehicle performance criteria, etc. are strictly prohibited. Transmission brake and two-steps are permitted.

NHRA announces plans to improve fan experience at Full Throttle events

Glendora, CA – Furthering the ongoing initiative to improve the racing experience for fans at NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series events, NHRA has announced a two-pronged approach to minimize excessive downtime as a
result of oildowns and track preparation.
NHRA has invested in additional trackside cleanup equipment and implemented strict oildown penalties, which will include monetary fines and championship point deductions for violations.
“We recognize that oildowns are part of racing,” said Graham Light, NHRA senior vice president of racing operations. “But we polled our fans, and they indicated that, though a part of racing, excessive downtime on the track has a negative impact on their experience. We believe the added equipment, coupled with across-the-board oildown penalties, will lead to less oildowns by all competitors, shorter downtime on the track, and a better experience for our racers and fans at NHRA national events.”

Norwalk, Oh – The International Hot Rod Association is pleased to announce that it is partnering with 1320go.com to provide Live Timing for all of the Nitro Jam events held 
throughout the 2011 racing season.
Race fans can now visit the IHRA website and watch all of the action live from the professional and sportsman sessions during each Nitro Jam event this season.
“Over the past eight months we have worked closely with 1320go.com to create a custom online Live Timing System for our Nitro Jam events. Continuing our efforts to reach out to the racing communities and to provide the best drag racing experience possible, the new Live Timing System will allow those that can’t travel to an event the ability to watch the action online,” said Skooter Peaco, IHRA VP of Operations. “Our commitment to make drag racing available to the largest number of people has just taken a large step forward.”
JEGS racer T.J. Coughlin has history in his sights

DELAWARE, Ohio – Third-generation drag racer Troy Coughlin Jr. will try to become the third member of the famous 
Coughlin racing clan to win an IHRA Ironman trophy at the upcoming Palm Beach Nitro Jam, which runs from Jan. 28-29 at Palm Beach International Raceway in southeast Florida.
“Uncle John won an Ironman in Darlington (S.C) back in 1984 and Uncle Mike won one at Marion County International Raceway (LaRue, Ohio) in 1992 so I think we’re overdue for another Coughlin to find the winner’s circle at an IHRA race,” said Troy Jr., known to most simply as T.J. “I would consider it a great honor.
“I really like the IHRA deal. It’s some great, friendly Sportsman racing with a Hollywood show aspect to it all. I love to race and it’s the next big event on the schedule so we’re heading that way.”
T.J. will enter the Quick Rod class with the same JEGS dragster he’s raced to multiple NHRA national and divisional victories. The car has a new look this year, sporting an all-yellow theme that Team JEGS will banner in 2011, and his powerplant has been tuned up for maximum performance.
