Career-Best Run Vaults Hossler To Top Of Round 4 Qualifying Field in Qatar

Courtesy of ADRL

DOHA, QATAR – After finishing as the runner-up in the Pro Extreme class of the Arabian Drag Racing League a year ago, Alex Hossler was ready to pick up where he left off this season.

It took four events and plenty of headaches, but Hossler finally appears to have regained that magic.

With three races of frustration behind him, the Al-Anabi Racing driver rebounded in a major way, setting career-bests across the board, as his 3.641 at 209 miles per hour vaulted him to the top of qualifying after three rounds on Thursday at Qatar Racing Club (QRC).

“To get a career-best is always uplifting, especially after the first three races when we couldn’t get things to come together,” Hossler said. “For it all to work is comforting, but not too comforting in this class.

After another successful season, Jeg Coughlin Jr plans big changes for 2011

Courtesy of Jegs

Delaware, OH – With five world championships and 66 national event wins during his amazing career, Jeg Coughlin Jr., has set the bar high which is why he can be forgiven if he feels his 2010 season, which featured five wins and a seventh place finish in the Pro Stock, was something less than a rousing success. After winning Pro Stock events in Houston, Atlanta, Sonoma and Brainerd, Coughlin entered the playoff phase of the NHRA Countdown to the Championship as the third ranked driver in the class but good fortune eluded him during the critical stretch drive and he finished a disappointing seventh.

“This season definitely had some bright spots, and I was happy with what we accomplished in Pro Stock car. “We had a good team and a good car and a lot of momentum going into countdown and then it was like a switch was hit and we didn’t perform well. We had engine problems and wound up chasing our tails. That was the only thing that put a damper on the season. Overall, we won four races and I think we had one of the better cars out there.”

While any of his four Pro Stock wins could be considered a season highlight, Coughlin is also justifiably proud of his performance at the NHRA O’Reilly Midwest Nationals in Madison, where he drove his brother, John’s JEGS.com entry to the Top Dragster title. At the same event, Jeg drove to a runner-up finish in Pro Stock and would almost certainly have completed a rare double victory had his car not broken in the final round.

Manorville, NY – 2010 has been a very good year for us at Gary Courtier Racing. While getting the new Fulton powered Jerry Bickel 68’ Camaro Pro Mod sorted out and trying to be consistent has given Gary Courtier lots of seat time in 2010. Towards the end of the season we felt we were on the right track. A huge thank you to Nick Lacerenza for getting the car down the track almost every time.

A special thanks to Larry Gonzalez for always being there for the team. Dale and Donna Brinsfield for all their support, and Dale for teaching me to be more relaxed and helping improve my driving skills to make me a better driver. Eric and Gil Davis for their great service and help at the track. Fredy Scriba and crew for all their help and for lending us parts when we needed them the most. Thanks to Milt Decker for all his knowledge. The first time Milt was with us, he sensed something is not right with the nitrous system, made a few calls and adjustments and we went the best time we ever went and all numbers were good from the 60’ to 1320’, with a best ET to date of 6.17 at 230 mph.
