AEROSPACE COMPONENTS NHRA UNLEASHED AND NMCA TO JOIN FORCES

GLENDORA, CA —It was announced today that the Aerospace Components NHRA Unleashed program will combine forces with the National Muscle Car Association (NMCA) to 
deliver an unparalleled offering of fun and close side-by-side racing for fans and competitors alike. The popular Aerospace Components NHRA Unleashed program, which was formed in 2010, will be featured at five NMCA events for the remainder of the 2011 season.
NHRA has revised the 2011 Aerospace Components NHRA Unleashed class rules and official schedule. Moving forward, the Unleashed classes will be featured at the following NMCA events: Auto Club Dragway at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana (July 8-10); Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Ky. (Aug. 5-7); Milan Dragway, Milan, Mich. (Aug. 26-28); Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, (Oct. 6-9); and Royal Purple Raceway, Houston (Nov. 11-13).
Racing continues Saturday and Sunday at Castrol Raceway

EDMONTON, AL – Persistent rains and rapidly cooling temperatures have forced the cancellation of Friday’s Nitro Jam action at Castrol Raceway just moments before the beginning of the pro show Friday at the Mopar Rocky
Mountain Nitro Jam Nationals in Edmonton.
All sportsman qualifying rounds were wrapped up before the rains arrived, but the entire professional show was cancelled due to the wet weather. Despite the rains, thousands of fans braved the weather in hopes of seeing the thrill of nitro racing at Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway before the rain called Friday’s action.
Fans who bought Friday tickets can redeem those tickets either Saturday or Sunday at Canada’s largest drag race.
In sportsman action Dan Lachelt of Kelowna, British Columbia topped Top Dragster with a very quick 6.525, 213.73 and Scott Blake of Red Deer, Alberta headed Top Sportsman with a 6.600, 210.11. In the Stock classes Byron Setters of Red Deer topped Super Stock and Paul Plummer of Couer D’Alene, Idaho headed Stock.
Sixteen Car Qualifying Field For Top Sportsman Coming To ADRL

O’FALLON, MO – Top Sportsman is now an official class in the American Drag Racing League (ADRL).
Due to the overwhelming response from racers and fans following two exhibition races in the ADRL, the world’s
premier eighth-mile drag racing league announced on Thursday that it will add a full, 16-car qualifying field to its thrilling and fast-paced racing program.
There will be open participation for those interested and the 16-car qualifying field will begin at the ADRL’s next event, the Ford Drive One Summer Drags VII, which takes place July 15-16 at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Mich.
The ADRL also announced the purse for Top Sportsman. The winner at each event will receive $2,000, with the runner-up earning $1,000. Semifinalists earn $500, quarterfinalist will get $400 and first-round qualifiers will earn $300.
Woppado Racing and Street Car Super Nationals VII Team up for WCOPMA Opener

Idaho for the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association Season Opener at the famous Firebird Raceway’s “Fox Hunt” Scialpi a 35-year Pro Mod veteran is coming off a big win last month in Las Vegas (PSCA/Hughes Performance Pro Street) and has plenty of experience on the Firebird’s famed quarter mile.
Over his illustrious Pro Mod/Pro Street career, John has notched wins in Canada, Australia and just about every western United States except one…. Idaho!! Woppado Racing has always ran good at Firebird, but for one reason or another a win had eluded the team.. Let’s all hope this all changes this weekend!!
Funny Car star Tim Boychuk looking to defend home turf

EDMONTON, AL – Last year was a dream year for Funny Car driver Tim Boychuk.
Not only did the Edmonton native win multiple national events and set numerous records, but the pilot of the “Troy Lee Designs” Pontiac-bodied Prostalgia Nitro Funny Car also swept his home event and the biggest drag race in all of Canada at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton last year.
Edmonton’s Tim Boychuk won twice last year in Funny Car and was runner-up in Top Fuel
Now, after another great start and with momentum on his side, Boychuk and his team return to Edmonton this weekend looking to once again take home a victory at the Mopar Rocky Mountain Nitro Jam Nationals and keep his winning streak alive at the track he likes to call home.
IHRA Utah Nitro Jam is Family Affair for 801 Racing

Salt Lake City, UT – Cody Perkins and his 801 Racing sponsored Top Alcohol racing team made this last weekend’s 
Nitro Jam into a family gathering to remember. The Facebook page of 801 Racing gave away tickets to the event, as well as hundreds of 801 T-shirts. Perkins met fans, made new friends, and the giant yellow racecar showed off some thunder.
“I was really surprised how many folks came out and wanted to know about 801 Racing,’ said Perkins. “The response has been quite overwhelming.”
It’s no surprise to 801 Racing, the Utah based fuel boost catalyst manufacturer. They have been working to promote their new company and in sponsoring Cody Perkins and his Dragster, have gained a new appreciation of the power that Drag Racing has.
Getting together at an event like the IHRA’s Nitro Jam proved to be a chance to gain friends and fans.
War Eagle Racing Wins Nitro Jam Trophy in Utah

Salt Lake City, UT – James Day welcomed Dale Pulde back to the racetrack with a win at Rocky Mountain Raceway’s 
IHRA Nitro Jam event this past weekend. Winning the Iron Man was not an easy task, or forgotten any time soon by those who were there.
Confronted with a tricky race surface, Day had some driving to do. Right out of the box, the War Eagle Nostalgia Funny Car, piloted by James Day, put down a sub five second run to propel them in to the feature event of the night. In the final, the CleanBoost Oil sponsored team defeated a tough opponent in Tim Boychuk with a 5.922 @237.59 to take the win.
“It was sliding around out there, and when I shifted into high gear it headed to the wall.” said Day. “I wrenched it back and took the win light. It was a great weekend.”
Charity efforts are a BIG part of Hinbest Racing’s 2011 Plans

ORANGEVILLE, ON – After two of six events in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series of drag racing, the Hinbest Racing Team has one car in third place and the other in 19th spot out of 38 teams in the popular series. Unfortunately in the second round of the Xtreme Mayhem Nationals at the Cayuga 
Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park the team’s cars were matched up, and Mike Hinbest, the driver of the team’s six-second Top Dragster car took the win over the Top Dragster of Katie Ward.
“It has been three years since our team has been past a semi-final round, and the hard work and dedication of our crew is what makes this possible,” said team driver Mike Hinbest.
For 2011 the team has decided to create the Hinbest Racing Foundation to accompany their charity efforts. A website has been started and will be completed late in 2011. Last year the Hinbest Racing Foundation was able to raise $600 for the Canadian Cancer Society, and provided a $1000 Scholarship for students at The Canadian Automotive Institute. As well the team raised $700 as part of a charity auction for Georgian College.

Troy Coughlin and son looking for double win in home state of Ohio

NORWALK, Ohio (June 22) – This weekend’s NHRA drag race in northeast Ohio will be a special one for JEGS.com 
drivers Troy Coughlin, his son Troy Jr., and daughters Meghan and Paige. That’s because the site of the race is just 80 miles from JEGS headquarters in Delaware, Ohio, the Coughlin’s longtime hometown.
“Norwalk is a great racetrack,” Coughlin said. “I’m excited to get there. We’ve got more than 300 JEGS associates who are going to come up, hang out, and watch the races. We’ve got to do well there in front of all them.
“And we’ll have a lot of family along for the ride as well. The Coughlin family’s pretty big, and my wife’s family also is coming out. It should be a slew of people, but it’ll be a good time. Talk about a support group – it’ll be pretty awesome.
