Hagerstown, MD – As I told all of our readers in the last update we went into what was going to be our last ADRL race of 2012 in Norwalk, Ohio. We had been chasing our tails for way to long, fooling around with different transmission / torque converter combinations that showed promise until we got to an ADRL prepped race track.

So with our revamped converter in place we decided to make one hit with it and if it didn’t show promise, out it would come and in would go the one we had ran earlier but with some changes inside. On the first qualifier John left the line well for about twenty feet and then the Camaro went into instant tire smoke. So what did we do? Not what we said we were going to do! Imagine that, a drag racer not sticking to the game plan!

NIAGARA FALLS, ON – The popular Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series is known for producing many talented sportsman drag racers. To see it, you don’t need to look any further than Niagara Falls, Ontario’s Jim Thomson – the winner of the 2012 Tim Thorne Rookie of the Year Award, presented by Sam LoVetro Automotive.

Jim won the sought-after award by earning the most points of all drivers new to the TNTSS in 2012.

The highlight for Jim’s season is the double race weekend at St Thomas Raceway Park in August where he was in the final both days and took the win on Sunday.

Those results plus a semi-final finish at Dunn Tire Raceway Park earned Jim 627 points in the championship chase – enough to get him into the top ten. Impressive results for his first full season in TNTSS 10.90 competition.

SAN ANTONIO, TX – VP Racing Fuels, Inc. today reported that donations to the Prevent Cancer Foundation in conjunction with sales of pink VP Motorsport ContainersTM have reached $2,695. This amount is in addition to an auction bid of $2,000 given to the foundation last month for a pink container autographed by three top NHRA drivers. VP also announced the pink containers will be made available as a regular stock item and donations to the foundation will continue with each sale.

“Our original intent was to offer the pink containers as a “Special Edition” only during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but due to their popularity we decided to extend production to generate additional contributions,” said Alan Cerwick, President of VP Racing Fuels. “Going forward, we’ll donate $2.50 to the Prevent Cancer Foundation with each sale of a pink container, while during each Breast Cancer Awareness Month we’ll double that to $5 per container as we did this year.”

“In the spirit of the upcoming holidays, we hope the pink containers will be viewed as the ideal gift – meeting a need among the race fans in your family while also providing a gift to a great cause,” Cerwick concluded.

Lyman, SC – Fans of Pro Modified legend Scotty Cannon will have the opportunity to catch up on what he and son Scott Jr. have been up to the last couple of seasons. “It has been nice to be home and catch up on some of my business stuff. I have also enjoyed getting to spend time with family. After so many years on the road it is definitely something different. I still get calls from my friends that race and I stay in the loop as best as I can. There are some days that I miss racing said Scotty.”

In many ways this class has changed a lot with the addition of the turbo charged entries. And of course the nitrous and blower combinations still generate a saga of their own. “We still have all of our equipment and could be ready to race if a deal were to come along. We have raced the car in some local match races over the last couple of seasons said Scott Jr.” Cannon Jr. also works in the family business, an enterprise that includes a drive-in restaurant, tournament fishing lakes, and some rental properties.
