JOLIET, IL – Top Alcohol Dragster driver Chris Demke enters the upcoming Burndown at Sundown NHRA regional event placed C Demke Photo Courtesy of Cyclops Photographysecond in national points. A late-round finish this weekend could boost him to the top, ahead of blown alcohol rival Jim Whiteley. In addition to it being a points-earning race, Demke and the Maddern Racing team will use the opportunity to prepare for their Jegs Allstars title defense at the Route 66 Nationals at the end of June.

“It’s sort of a test session, but I’m not going to discount the importance of earning points for the regional event. We’ve struggled at regional events this year, so we want to add as many points as we can this weekend,” said Demke, who is fifth in West Region points after first round losses at the Firebird and Las Vegas regional events.

Reigning World Champion Manuel highlights Mooresville Pro-Am winners

MOORESVILLE, NC – In 2012 a then unknown 17-year-old racer by the name of Corey Manuel came out of nowhere to claim the IHRA Marvin DunahooWorld Championship in Quick Rod at the Summit Racing Equipment Tournament of Champions.

This season, with an extra year of maturity under his belt, Manuel hopes to add to that success by proving he is not just a one-hit wonder and that he can run with the best year in and year out. At Mooresville Manuel got that campaign off to a great start by winning the Quick Rod title at the second of five races on the Division 9 Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL schedule.

Manuel traversed four rounds of competition at Mooresville Dragway ending with a victory over Jamie Farrell to record his second career Pro-Am win. Robertson “Steering” Eaton Backed TA/FC to Chi-Town for NHRA Lucas Oil “Burndown at Sundown”

Harrison TWP. MI – After a less than successful outing at the Division 3 season opener in April; Todd Robertson and his Eaton Top Alcohol Funny Car team feel they are headed in the right direction as they travel to Joliet, Illinois’ Route 66 Raceway for this weekend’s NHRA Sportsman event, the “Burndown at Sundown” presented by Four Seasons Heating, Air Conditioning and Plumbing.

“Each time we go out we learn more about running a Funny Car,” said Robertson. “I’ve had issues with steering since my first time in the car but, with no real comparison in my driving history I just thought it was me. Come to find out it was more the car than me. This car was built for someone else originally. It was fitted to him. I fit into the car different than him. So, the leverage I have when trying to turn the car is less than what he had. After the last race we removed and rebuilt the steering on the car and made it easier for me to control the car. That was probably our biggest issue and it should show instant results,” added team owner/driver Todd Robertson.

CAPITOL RACEWAY CURFEW ENDS NEOPMA BEFORE FINALS

Crofton, MD – The Management at “The New Capitol Raceway” had the track ready for the oppressive heat. During the first session of NEOPMA_LogoQualifying many drivers were just finding a tune up to get down the 140+ degree track!  In the second session of qualifying Fred Scriba runs an amazing 6.10 in the heat to show he is ready for all weather and track conditions. Dwayne Wolfe also ran a good number during the heat, running a 6.24 with his blown firebird.  Gerry Capano and Gary Courtier had a side by side race with Capano running a career best with a 6.10 after he was struggling with that car the last couple of races, and Courtier ran a 6.23 with his beautiful Nitrous Camaro.

“Capitol Raceway is such a great track to race,” Gary Courtier said. “The improvements to the track and facilities were outstanding. Their hospitality was 2nd to none, as they had cold water at the starting line and the top end turn off which was awesome considering the 95+ degree heat.”
