ROBERT HIGHT STARTS NEW ENGLAND NATIONALS WITH WHIRLWIND TOUR OF NORTHEAST

EPPING, NH – Most NHRA drivers are spending their time in advance of the Inaugural NHRA Uni-Slect Auto Plus New England Hight Red Sox first pitchDragway getting a feel for the track or spending time with area media outlets or making sponsor appearances. Robert Hight did all that plus he threw out the first pitch at the Boston Red Sox game all in a 24-hour time period from Wednesday to Thursday.

“It has been a busy day and half. I fell asleep at halftime of the NBA Finals game seven last night. It has been an awesome start to the race but also a tiring start. I got some rest last night and this morning. I am ready to get to the track and start racing,” said Hight the driver of the AAA Northern New England Ford Mustang Funny Car.

Romine looks to unseat three-time Rocky Mountain champion Boychuk in Edmonton

EDMONTON, AL – Over the past three years no one has been able to unseat the impalpable Tim Boychuk as the Funny Car King of Canada.

Paul RomineSince 2010 the Edmonton, Alberta native has been remarkably consistent and blazingly fast in IHRA’s AMSOIL Prostalgia Nitro Funny Car class leading to three consecutive victories at his hometown MOPAR Rocky Mountain Nitro Jam Nationals at Castrol Raceway, most of them in dominating fashion. Many have tried, but none have been able to unseat the fastest Funny Car pilot north of the border.

But one man hopes to change all of that.

Three-time IHRA Top Fuel World Champion and recent Funny Car convert Paul Romine will come out of semi-retirement and return to action for the first time in more than a year when he takes over driving duties in the “Power Steel” Camaro owned by Jim Broome at the MOPAR Rocky Mountain Nitro Jam Nationals presented by Good Vibrations Motorsports at Castrol Raceway.

Kerrville, TX – The X-DRL continues to add excitement in its program with the inclusion of a 10.5 class.

“We have been looking for the right class to add since before the Spring Nationals that would complement our professional and sportsman programs, work with our track prep strategy and bring the fans the excitement they have come to expect from the X-DRL,” Mitchell said.

“We believe a properly structured 10.5 class will be exciting and fit well with the other classes we currently offer. This will be a 16-car field and use established rules.

Robertson Eaton Backed TA/FC Headed to Matco Tools “Summer Showdown” at Cordova Dragway

Harrison TWP, MI –  In their last outing at the Division three event in Jolliet, Ill. the Eaton TA/FC team of Todd Robertson was able to Jody Wilson TAFCcrack the tough eight car field but went out early to former TAD World Champion Jay Payne in round one.

“Jay Payne is an impressive racer. He’s won a ton of races in the Top Alcohol ranks. We knew we were a long shot against him but, we gave it our best shot. We’ve got no excuses and we don’t need any. We are on a steep learning curve and we keep inching our way up each time out,” said Crew Chief, Dennis Kolomyjec.

This weekend the Eaton Funny Car team is headed to Cordova, IL for the fourth of six NHRA North Central Regional events.

X-DRL Points Chase starting to take shape after 4 Events

Kerrville, TX  – For the time being Dean Goforth is ready to party like it’s 1984.

Dean Goforth - Xtreme Pro StockA race after winning his first event in the X-DRL, Goforth took his new Jerry Haas Race Cars Camaro to a runner-up spot in St. Louis, continuing his strong early-season momentum.

Most importantly, Goforth also took over the points lead in X-treme Pro Stock, putting him in the points lead for the first time since 1984.

It’s a gargantuan feat for Goforth, who has shown remarkable ability behind the wheel this season.

He lost to Todd Hoerner in the final at X-treme Gateway Showdown, but he still left with the points lead and had nothing but positives to say about finishing as the runner-up and the surface at Gateway Motorsports Park.

MEMPHIS, TN – Memphis International Raceway lived up to its reputation as one of the most sought-after racing destinations in the Mark Milescountry over the weekend as the famous track hosted a pair of IHRA Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour Wild Card races with great results over Father’s Day weekend.

Three drivers claimed double wins during the special two-race Wild Card format highlighted by Leslie Dugas who swept the Top Sportsman category, Wes Neely who doubled up in Stock Eliminator and Mark Miles who took home two wins and a runner-up finish in two different categories.

Troy Coughlin Jr. set for the ‘Big Go’ of bracket racing in Indy

DELAWARE, OH – Troy Coughlin Jr. has loaded up his JEGS.com dragster and is headed west to Lucas Oil Raceway for this weekend’s Troy Coughlin Jr- IndyJEGS U.S. Open in Indianapolis.

The JEGS U.S. Open annually attracts some of the biggest names in bracket racing and this year’s edition appears to be no exception as more than 300 cars are on the entry list.

Nicknamed “The Big Go of Bracket Racing” in deference to the sport’s longest-running national event that’s been held at the same venue in Indy for six decades, the JEGS U.S. Open is the brainchild of noted bracket racer Mike Fuqua.

The first race was held nine years ago at Tri-State Dragway in Hamilton, Ohio, and was then moved to Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Ky., before finding it’s current home in Indy.

Bauer Racing wins Best Appearing Award at NHRA Div. 1 LODRS; Heads North for Quick 32 Series at TMP

Elma, NY – Winning a “Best Appearing” award at an NHRA event is a big deal to racers but, it means a little more to a guy like Top Bauer Racing - Lebanon Valley Best Appearing AwardSportsman racer, Bob Bauer. Almost a week after being voted the best appearing car at the NHRA division one event in Lebanon Valley, NY Bauer was still beaming. Just before he awarded Morgan Mandwaring her second $75.00 K100/Bauer Racing number one qualifier award of the season at Bauer’s home track, Elegant Builder’s Raceway Park; he commented on the award.

“When the official told me I was the winner, I was put back a bit because of how some of the other cars looked. I’m very happy for the exposure my sponsor will receive from the award and for the recognition my team receives. We ALWAYS keep our stuff clean and neat. So, being noticed for it really means something to us,” said Bauer.
