NMCA Takes Over Bradenton Florida – 16th Annual NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem!

With the 16th Annual NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem only a few days away, racers and fans will soon be filling the pits and grandstands as the NMCA Muscle Car Nationals presented by E3 Spark Plugs, begins it’s 31st season.

As in years past, this race sets the stage for a six-race season, which finishes at Lucas Oil Raceway late in September. But it is this race, at a track known for producing insane performances, where racers and teams set the tone for the rest of the year.

With one of the best racing surfaces in all of drag racing and arguably the best air of the season, this event usually sets performance benchmarks for the rest of the year – something the most competitive racers are well aware of. While record-setting numbers at one event may not win a season title, it does allow for early contenders to stand above the pack in terms of performance.

For fans, it gives them an opportunity to see some of the quickest and fastest passes of the season, across all classes.

This race, like the 15 that have preceded it, will feature a combination of big-tire classes as well as small-tire classes running in both the eighth and quarter-mile distances. As usual, the pits will be filled with some of the best VP Racing Fuels Xtreme Pro Mod racers in the country as turbo, blown and nitrous combinations race each other in an eliminator featuring sub-four second runs at well over 200 mph.

A class retooled for this year is ARP Nitrous Pro Street, featuring a new rules package, which is a strong reflection of the very popular Outlaw 632 Class, which runs regularly at Bradenton Motorsports Park. “After talking to those who race the class, and looking at the rules, the way they were structured, we felt it was time to make a change,” said National Event Director, Rollie Miller. “Our philosophy is to try to stay in step with our racers needs, when at all possible. In this case, we needed to make radical changes, which should now open the class up to a lot more cars at each of the tracks we attend,” Miller concluded. One thing is for sure, the popularity of the Outlaw 632 Class run in Florida will make this class one of the most exciting to watch over the weekend.

The action doesn’t stop there though as there are nine other heads-up classes competing at this race along with four index classes. From the insane power of Mickey Thompson Radial Wars cars to the screaming, high-rpm of the naturally-aspirated NA 10.5 beasts, to the new era of Detroit muscle and power on display in the Holley EFI Factory Super Cars class, the 16th Annual NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem, March 8-11 will surely satisfy anyone with a need for speed.
