NMCA Invades Beech Bend Raceway

After a raucous start to the NMCA Muscle Car Nationals presented by E3 Spark Plugs season, the world’s fastest street cars head to Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, KY, for the 17th Annual Quick Fuel Technology NMCA Bluegrass Nationals presented by Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center. With two record-setting events in the books, the NMCA turns their attention to one of the most storied tracks in the history of the organization.

Known for a killer track surface, it’s anyone’s guess how quick and fast cars will be at Bowling Green, but one thing is for sure; with the lineup of heads-up classes and special events within this race, it promises to deliver an action-packed weekend.

From VP Racing Fuels Xtreme Pro Mod, to some of the nation’s most outrageous drag radial cars running in the Mickey Thompson Radial Wars class, runs in the 3-second range at over 200 mph in the eighth-mile will be common place. Who knows who will end up in the Aerospace Components Winners Circle at the end of the weekend. One thing for sure, they will have earned it!

This race also features the 12th Annual LSX Shootout presented by Chevrolet Performance and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center. Classes include Chevrolet Performance Stock, LME Street King, Proform Rumble, Gear Vendors LSX True Street, and the all-new Street Car Challenge class for “true street” type vehicles with personalized instruction. There will also be a special Real Street Shootout, presented by Brian Tooley Racing, for the fastest LS-powered Xtreme Street cars on the property.

As in years past, the 12th Annual Dave Duell Classic is being held in conjunction with the 16th Annual Quick Fuel Technology NMCA Bluegrass Nationals. This race is the premier event for racers who choose to keep alive, the cars and the performance of a by-gone era.

Sponsored by ATI Performance, the Classic, as it has become known, draws racers from across the nation to compete in one of the most prestigious events of the year for racers of classic metal. There’s no denying the power, sound and look of a wheelstanding ‘60s-era Stock or Super Stock car as it heads down the quarter-mile in Bowling Green, where the track itself is as iconic as these cars racing on its storied surface.

If you’re looking for a thrill of a different kind – something that takes you back to the golden era of drag racing, the Dave Duell Classic will certainly deliver. When combined with the modern muscle, which makes up the other classes of the NMCA, this event should be a “must see” for any fan of drag racing.
