MALVASO SCORES SECOND SUPERCHARGED WIN OF SEASON AT NYIRP

LANCASTER, NY – Frank Malvaso of Rochester, N.Y. picked up his second Supercharged Bounty Hunters win of 2019 on Friday night at Lancaster Dragway @ New York International Raceway Park. The Supercharged Bounty Hunters were part of jam packed night of IHRA drag racing at NYIRP featuring over 165 cars in competition.

In other Friday night action, Dave Balser of Akron, N.Y. took the win in Mallare Trucking Top ET. Mike Nowak of Lancaster was victorious in Top 8 Eliminator. Mason Fix scored his second-straight win in Gianni Mazia’s Mod ET. In Hebeler’s Sales Bikes & Sleds, Don Becker of Alden, N.Y. earned his first win of the season. Pete Maduri of N. Tonawanda, N.Y. won Tread City Tire Street. Deanna Nugent of Niagara Falls (Pro) and Fern Adams of W. Seneca, N.Y. (Amateur) won the special Ladies Night classes sponsored by Cash & Go Pawn.

Frank Malvaso continued his domination of the Supercharged Bounty Hunters at Lancaster as he beat Chuck McMahon in the “A” final for his second-straight win. Ron D’Alessandero won the Supercharged “B” final.

Mike Nowak nearly did the double in the Top classes on Friday night. Nowak first knocked off NYIRP co-owner Mike Swinarski in the Top 8 final after beating Swinarski to top end. He then moved to the Mallare Trucking Top ET ladder where he advanced to the finals to face Dave Balser. Nowak left the starting line too soon to trip the red light, and hand Balser his second win overall in 2019 at Lancaster.

Mason Fix picked up the win in Gianni Mazia’s Mod ET for the second week in a row. Fix faced Ryan Ricketson in the finals, and it was a breakout by Ricketson that allowed Fix to score the win. Don Becker picked up the win in Hebeler’s Sales Bikes & Sleds just one week after losing in the final round to Lucas Salemi. This time Becker faced veteran rider Gerry Vaughan in the finals where he was able to score his first win of 2019.

Former national event winner Pete Maduri ended the win streak of DJ Raiser in Tread City Tire Street. Raiser made to the Street final for the third week in a row, but lost to Maduri after he broke out. Maduri got the win in his 2012 Ford Flex for his second win of the season after getting a win in Top 8 back in June.

Lancaster held its annual Ladies Night race on Friday as well. Cash & Go Pawn once again sponsored the event by providing a diamond ring to the winner of both the Amateur and Pro Ladies classes. Deanna Nugent beat Sherry Van Baalen in the Pro class final for experienced drivers. Nugent lost in the Ladies Pro final last year, but got revenge when Van Baalen red lighted the race away. Fern Adams beat Jennifer Karosik in the Amateur class final in a double breakout.

This Friday, August 9, is a $1000-to-win special for Gianni Mazia’s Mod ET. Racer and attorney Paul Cambria has put up $500 towards to Mod ET purse plus Carey Hodge has added $100 to the runner-up prize.
