GOOD LOOKS SEND TUCKER INTO ELIMINATIONS WITH ONE VICTORY IN HAND

NORWALK, OH – After four rounds of qualifying at the 13th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals Shane Tucker and his Auzmet/StructGlass Chevrolet Camaro qualified No. 16 in a very quick field of competitors. Tucker’s best time of 6.841 seconds at 201.70 mph was well off his previous national event efforts but was enough to keep his 2019 qualifying streak alive. He will race Deric Kramer, the most recent winner in the Pro Stock class, in the first round. This will be the first race against Kramer.

“We will have a tough opponent to start race day for sure,” said Tucker. “We are breaking in a new race car this weekend and have been battling a few issues. We will be ready for Deric and are going to give him a solid run.”

In his first pass on Saturday Tucker’s Camaro experienced a starting line issue that drove him into extreme tire shake. In his final qualifying run he was quick off the line but just past the half-track mark Tucker could not shift into high gear. The Gatornationals quarterfinalist coasted across the finish line and into race day as the No. 16 qualifier.

“Yesterday we had a couple issues and today we had different issues,” said Tucker. “This is a great race car and I am looking forward to tomorrow. On the last run it just wouldn’t go into high gear. It was really quick for the 60 ft. and through 330 feet. We’ll get after it tonight.”

The highlight of the event so far for Tucker and his Auzmet/StructGlass team was being recognized but the NHRA as the “Best Appearing Car” for the event. The new look Camaro was an original design by Tucker and has drawn rave reviews from NHRA officials and fans alike.

“I have designed a lot of my race cars and I am really proud of this design,” added Tucker. “I get a lot of inspiration for a lot of different places. I am a big fan of F1 and how clean their race cars look. I wanted to tie that look and color into our Auzmet corporate colors. We work with a lot of different materials and we want to keep everything looking fresh. I have to thank the NHRA for this special recognition.”

Tucker’s race day will start immediately after Top Fuel and Funny Car get underway at 11 a.m.
