RICHMOND, VA – After a 41 day break in the action between NHRA races featuring Pro Stock competitors Shane Tucker and his Auzmet/StructGlass Chevrolet Camaro made two solid runs at Virginia Motorsports Park. The first day of qualifying at the Virginia NHRA Nationals was highlighted by one of his quickest runs of the season, a solid 6.655 seconds, by the young Australian. The pass has Tucker sitting in the provisional No. 12 spot heading into Saturday’s final two qualifying sessions.

“I am excited to see the improvement from the first session to the second session. We are starting out with better runs in Q1 and getting quicker.  We are getting a handle on this Auzmet Camaro and I am looking forward to tomorrow,” said Tucker. “I didn’t mind the break between races. I was able to go back to Australia and work on some business projects. I am glad to be back racing for sure. ”

On his first pass Tucker made his inaugural run at Virginia Motorsports Park and posted a 6.715 second, 206.16 mph pass. The run was good enough to position Tucker as the No. 10 Pro Stock car after the first session.

“We felt good after the first run. We are still working on a consistent tune-up and getting a solid run right off the trailer really helps. We are going to continue to get more aggressive every run. I have to thank Rob Tucker and Nick Ferri for all their efforts,” add Tucker.

Qualifying will resume at Virginia Motorsports Park tomorrow at 12:45 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.
