Mac Rak brings Will Smith and Larry Dixon to the Big Go

INDIANAPOLIS – Will Smith and his Band of Brothers are back together and headed to Dodge Power Brokers NHRA U.S. Nationals. Joining Smith and Dixon on this latest venture is North America’s largest pallet rack repair company, Mac Rak.

Based in Missouri, Mac Rak makes any type of repair and provides a lifetime warranty. The company also offers a wide range of products to meet any industry need. They specialize in custom pallet rack repair kids, pallet rack column protection, and protective guarding for warehouse equipment.

“Mac Rak has been a long time supporter of my bud Steve Johnson’s Pro Stock Motorcycle Team,” stated Dixon, “and when they approached us about representing them at the Big Go, I couldn’t have been more proud. I’m looking forward to seeing Will stand on the gas next week in our Mac Rak car and seeing how we stack up.”

“I’m stoked to be back behind the wheel of Larry’s dragster,” Smith began. “And I’m thrilled to have Mac Rak join our amazing Band of Brothers.”

Smith set to license in Dixon TF at US 131 Northern Nationals

TUSCALOOSA, AL – At the outset of 2022, Will Smith took a leap of faith in pursuing his longtime dream of piloting a Top Fuel Dragster. Next month that dream comes one step closer as Smith will license behind the wheel of Larry Dixon’s rail.

Smith made the difficult decision this season to step away from the Top Alcohol program he had piloted for four years. This training ground was the natural step before getting licensed in Top Fuel. “I knew I wanted to give this Top Fuel opportunity my all,” explained Smith. “Getting my license is a big thing to check off my list on this journey. At this point, I’m more than ready and can’t wait for the Northern Nationals to get here.”

Smith proved his prowess behind the wheel once again earlier this year at the Baby Gators when he stepped into a one-race deal with Samsel Racing and took the car to the winner’s circle without having so much as tested before the event. Although he’ll face a new animal in Martin, Michigan, he’s ready.

Smith and Samsel one race deal results in victory

GAINESVILLE, Fl – One race deals don’t typically offer great promise of success, but Will Smith and Samsel Racing showed the world what they’re capable of, taking home the Wally at the Division 2 Lucas Oil Regional.

Smith had never taken the Samsel dragster down the track before Q1 of the Baby Gators. The car was not fitted for him since team owner and regular driver Robin Samsel will soon be back behind the wheel for the Nationals. Despite this novelty between driver, crew and machine, Smith and Samsel were unstoppable from nearly start to finish, showing up big where it mattered most to land themselves in the winner’s circle. An elated Smith was quick to offer gratitude.

“I can’t thank Robin and Tony Samsel and the entire Samsel’s Racing team enough for the opportunity to wheel their bad-to-the-bone hot rod this weekend at the Baby Gators! I made some mistakes along the way, but they gave me a very quick and fast hot rod that enabled us to get the win in our debut together!”

Will Smith Motorsports welcomes two new partners in preparation for 2021 season

LOWELL, IN – Everyone is anxious to put 2020 behind and build a better 2021. With racing on full go, industry companies and race teams are doing what they do best – pressing forward despite all obstacles. Will Smith Motorsports and Hirata Motorsports lost little lustre in 2020 and are preparing for their best season yet.

Will Smith Motorsports welcomes new partners Asphalt Consultants, Inc. and NutScentz, LLC for 2021. “We’re expecting a great year,” said Smith, driver of the Hirata Motorsports TAD. “I’m thrilled to have Asphalt Consultants and NutScentz on board. They are great companies who see the value in motorsports marketing. Now more than ever, it’s important for companies to have a platform they can trust. The Smith/Hirata team and NHRA are just that. We understand what companies may have lost in 2020 and how to move forward in 2021.”

Asphalt Consultants is a Tuscaloosa, AL. based company founded in 1994. It is a prominent emulsion and asphalt supplier for leading pavers across the southeast. They use only state-of-the-art equipment to deliver outstanding results.

Will Smith Motorsports scores first win with Hirata Motorsports

EARLVILLE, IA – In what driver Will Smith calls a “perfect day” the Smith/Hirata duo pulled out their first win together at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series regional event at Tri State Raceway this past weekend. Before teaming up, Smith and Hirata have each proven their winning capabilities, and over the last three years, they’ve come close multiple times, but the coveted Wally has somehow eluded them. That was, until now.

“After three years of ups and down, we finally got it done,” told an elated Smith. “It was everything I could dream of. I am so proud of the Hirata Militia! Unfortunately, not everyone could be here to celebrate this weekend, but this win is for all of us.”

Smith swept the weekend, qualifying #1 in the Hirata Motorsports Top Alcohol Dragster with a 5.36 effort in the only qualifying attempt weather allowed for. As the cards fell, Smith had to face reigning World Champion, Megan Meyer, first round. Smith’s .017 reaction time to Meyer’s .075 gave him a huge advantage right off the starting line. Meyer wouldn’t make it down the track, so Smith cruised to a win, setting the stage for the rest of the day.

“When I woke up that day, everything just felt right. Even the weather was perfect. After taking out Megan first round, I knew we could do it. This could be our day,” Smith storied.

Will Smith/Hirata Motorsports scores first final round appearance

NORWALK, OH – At the most recent NHRA Division 3 event, the Cavalcade of Stars at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park, Will Smith and Hirata Motorsports earned their way to their first final round appearance together.

This team is making people take notice on all fronts. It’s a throwback season with celebrated mullet hairstyles and a tribute dragster that pays homage to great names in Top Fuel through the years. While the wow factor of this year’s team image was enough for people to take notice, Smith and Hirata wasted no time in making sure their on-track performance didn’t take second place.

“What a difference a year has made,” Smith began. “Last year at this event we made our debut. We weren’t even really sure who our crew was going to be for the remainder of the year. We DNQ-ed. We were behind the eight ball. We worked hard all last season and throughout the off season. I think our performance this past weekend showed that.

“The new combination we’ve been working on over the winter is really showing a lot of promise. We’re starting to get to where we need to be. We’ve got a combination and tune up, and we’re gaining more confidence. Now it’s just a matter of getting more laps with it and establishing some consistency.”
