TULSA, OK – Drag racing legend Shirley “Cha Cha” Muldowney has been named Grand Marshal of the 2016 NHRA Jr. Drag Racing Western Conference Finals, which will be held June 23-25 at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park. Track owners Todd Martin and Keith Haney invited the barrier-breaking, four-time world champion to add a hefty dose of drag racing royalty to their first major Jr. Drag Racing event.
“Shirley Muldowney is the perfect ambassador for our first Western Conference Finals,” Martin said. “Everyone in our sport knows and respects the battles she endured as a woman coming into a male-dominated world and fighting for the incredible successes she had in her driving career. She literally kicked in the door for female drivers.
They have invested in additional preparation and safety equipment, hoping to build upon the facility’s reputation as one of the top tracks in the country. Already a top testing venue, Haney and Martin want to attract NHRA Top Fuel and Funny Car teams for 2014 and beyond.
“Our track is the best in the country, and it has proven that for the last three years against the best of the best,” Haney said.
TULSA, OK – Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park will enhance its reputation as one of the top dragstrips in the United States by hosting three X275 events in 2014 as part of the Radial Revenge Tour. The first X275 race will be held April 25-26, paying $5,000 to win.
“For the first time in the state of Oklahoma, the heavy hitters in the X275 Drag Radial world will be coming to the Midwest for the chance at winning the largest purse ever offered in the state of Oklahoma, or the upper Midwest,” track co-owner Todd Martin said.
