Opening Weekend of Stampede of Speed Major Success

ENNIS, TX – The inaugural Stampede of Speed at the Texas Motorplex, home of the 36th annual Texas NHRA Fall Nationals, roared out of the gate with a Cattle Drive through downtown Waxahachie on Friday followed by a massive full day of festivals and music on Sunday highlighted by country superstar Dustin Lynch and Night Light lantern festival.

Crowds gathered around the historic Waxahachie Courthouse to see almost two dozen longhorns parade through the city. Working with the Waxahachie Convention and Visitors Bureau the Texas Motorplex staff led by General Manager Andy Carter organized the cattle drive to create excitement for the inaugural Stampede of Speed and give the inaugural event real Texas flair.

On Sunday Texas Motorplex began celebrating the start of the event on-site with a Beer Expo sponsored by Armadillo Brewing, BBQ contest, car show and Stampede of Speed welcome center. United Rodeo treated thousands of fans to two hours of bull riding excitement leading up to the country music festival. As the sun began to set, country music filled the air as Kyle Park, Wade Bowen, Flatland Calvary and ultimately Dustin Lynch thrilled tens of thousands of fans in attendance. In conjunction with the concert and additional activities, the Night Lights festival closed out the evening with a beautiful lantern release ceremony inspired by the traditional Thai lantern festivals celebrated around the world.

Military and First Responders Offered Fall Nationals Ticket Discounts

ENNIS, TX – It has become a tradition during the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series for race tracks across the country to recognize and honor first responders and members of the armed forces. The Texas Motorplex has been a consistent supporter of both remarkable groups of people and their families over the years. This year during the 36th annual Texas NHRA Fall Nationals and Stampede of Speed, the Texas Motorplex will once again offer members of the active or retired military, government employees and first responders a variety of ticket discounts to the NHRA national event.

“We look at all the sacrifices first responders and members of the military make every day or have made throughout their careers, and we just wanted to say thank you,” said Andy Carter, Texas Motorplex General Manager. “We will be recognizing representatives from the Dallas Five as well as members of the armed services and first responders throughout the event. We also have a special promotion with the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation on Saturday.”

Military members will be able to save 20% on Adult Reserved Tickets on any race day. The offer is also redeemable online in advance through a unique purchase link available to verified users on GovX. Additionally, savings will be available at the gate with a presentation of professional or Military ID at the ticket window.

Texas Motorplex Hosts Richest Week in Drag Racing

Six days of racing action in October includes total purse over $1 million

ENNIS, TX- For over three decades, Texas Motorplex, located between Ennis and Waxahachie on Highway 287, has hosted the premiere National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) drag racing event in the state of Texas — the Texas NHRA Fall Nationals. Millions of fans have experienced 330-mph races and have seen champions such as John Force, Don Prudhomme, Steve Torrence, Eddie Hill, Kenny Bernstein, and many more set records and amaze crowds. This year during the inaugural Stampede of Speed, October 2-10, six days of racing events plus a full day of professional testing will pump more money into the wallets of race teams from across the country than ever before.

“No one has ever put together a multi-day schedule as diverse or rich as the Stampede of Speed,” said Texas Motorplex General Manager Andy Carter. “We will be paying $25,000 to win Pro Mod on Tuesday night, over $30,000 in low-qualifier bonuses will be on the line on Friday night during the Friday Night Live event, and on Sunday our race purse for the Texas NHRA Fall Nationals will be over $1 million for all the classes combined, including the largest payout for the Camping World Drag Racing Series in over two years.”

Dustin Lynch Concert Highlights Beer Expo, Car Show, Bull Riding and BBQ Contest to Rev Up Stampede of Speed

ENNIS, TX – On the second day of the inaugural Stampede of Speed the Texas Motorplex will host a massive day of family-friendly events leading up to country superstar Dustin Lynch, Flatland Calvary, Wade Bowen, and Kyle Park taking the stage for a full night of country music. For $25 fans will be able to enjoy a full day of activities. Beginning at 1 p.m. the pits will be filled with hundreds of classic cars and trucks alongside a BBQ contest and impressive beer expo hosting eight of the top Dallas/Ft. Worth craft breweries. The expansion of the 36th annual NHRA Texas Fall Nationals, the richest week in drag racing, to include over a week of Texas-themed events dubbed the Stampede of Speed has created the opportunity for fans from across the country to descend on Texas Motorplex, October 2-10.

“We wanted to produce an event like nothing Texas has ever seen,” said Christie Meyer Johnson, Texas Motorplex co-owner. “I don’t think any venue has ever hosted a major concert, bull riding, car show, beer expo and BBQ contest for a $25 ticket. That kind of value is unheard of especially when we throw in kids 12 and under are free with a paying adult. We will have activities for the kids, too. It is the best value for entertainment in the state hands down .”

The Kid’s Korral will be filled with interactive games and fun activities for kids of all ages. At the conclusion of the event a massive fireworks display will be the perfect ending for a full day of family friendly activities and music.

Texas Motorplex Joins the TicketSmarter Network

Don Prudhomme, Richard Shute Named Texas Motorplex Legends

ENNIS, TX – Iconic drag racer Don Prudhomme and award-winning drag racing photographer Richard Shute will be recognized as Texas Motorplex Legends during the opening ceremonies of the 36th annual Texas NHRA Fall Nationals. Prudhomme won the Fall Nationals three times including a Funny Car title in 1989, Top Fuel in 1991 and his final professional Top Fuel win was recorded at the 1994 Fall Nationals. Shute has chronicled every Texas NHRA Fall Nationals winner’s circle as part of his 50-year career as one of the sport’s most popular photographers.

“These two legends, Don Prudhomme and Richard Shute, have made an enormous impact on the success of the Texas Motorplex,” said Texas Motorplex owner Billy Meyer. “Prudhomme was one of the first Funny Car drivers to see this facility and he is one of only four drivers to win in Funny Car and Top Fuel at the Fall Nationals. Richard has photographed every significant event and milestone this facility has produced. His eye behind the lens is legendary and it is my honor to celebrate these two amazing people.”

Prudhomme, a true legend of the sport, concluded his 47th year in drag racing in 2009, his 15th season as an owner after logging 32 seasons behind the wheel as one of the sport’s elite drivers. His remarkable driving career began in 1962 with his first Top Fuel victory at “Smokers March Meet” in Bakersfield, Calif., before ending with 49 NHRA career victories – the sixth most in NHRA history – following his farewell “Final Strike Tour” in 1994.  For his career, Prudhomme reached the finals 68 times, posting a remarkable 35 wins in 45 Funny Car finals and 14 wins in 23 Top Fuel finals rounds.

Dustin Lynch to Headline Texas Motorplex Country Music Line-Up for Stampede of Speed Music Festival

ENNIS, TX – The inaugural Stampede of Speed at the Texas Motorplex (7500 Hwy 287, Ennis, Texas 75119) will kick into high gear on Sunday, October 3, with a country music festival headlined by Dustin Lynch along with Flatland Calvary, Wade Bowen and Kyle Park. General admission tickets for the show will be $25 with children 12 and under free with a paid adult. Additional VIP tickets will be available for $100 and will include access to the Stampede of Speed VIP Corral featuring cash bar, private restrooms, an elevated viewing area and VIP parking[MOU1] . Gates will open for the festival at 12 p.m. and fans will also be treated to a Beer Expo and BBQ contest throughout the afternoon.

Stampede of Speed Events Deliver New Fan Options

ENNIS, TX – The expansion of the 37th annual NHRA Texas Fall Nationals, which includes over a week of Texas-themed events dubbed the Stampede of Speed, has created the opportunity for fans from across the country to descend on Texas Motorplex, October 2-10. The multi-use facility, located just 35 minutes from Dallas and Fort Worth, recently announced the Stampede of Speed and its weeklong schedule of non-racing activities, concerts, educational and business events. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available to fans and potential marketing partners from across the country.

Texas Motorplex Adds Charles Myers as Operations Manager

ENNIS, TX – The Texas Motorplex, home of the Stampede of Speed and NHRA Texas Fall Nationals, has hired Charles Myers to the newly created Operations Manager position at the multi-use motorsports facility located in Ennis, Texas. Myers joins the Texas Motorplex staff with a wealth of motorsports and event management experience. Myers will work with the sales manager on new sponsor recruitment as well as current sponsors support to maximize relationships with the race track. He will also focus on all production aspects of events, including planning, creative, staff and promoter management.

“Adding Charles to the staff is a major benefit to our sales and event management team,” said Andy Carter, Texas Motorplex General Manager. “We announced the Stampede of Speed earlier this month and Charles will be a major factor in the success and growth of that event as well as dozens of our other events. We are taking every event we host and produce to the next level and bringing Charles on board will make our whole team better.”

The motorsports marketing professional joins the Texas Motorplex after serving as Business Development Manager for Nitrous Supply in Huntington Beach, California, where he grew the business from $900,000 in sales to $3.5 million in one year. He also developed and implemented a dealer program in 29 states while increasing profits and expanding the brand internationally. Myers also worked with government officials on a variety of projects.

TEXAS MOTORPLEX ANNOUNCES STAMPEDE OF SPEED

ENNIS, TX – The Texas Motorplex announced today a major expansion and rebranding of their wildly popular NHRA Texas FallNationals, one of seven National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) playoff races to be contested in 2021. The “Stampede of Speed” will begin with a special opening ceremony during the 5th annual Night Lights sky-lantern festival on Saturday, October 2, and will conclude with the NHRA Texas Fall Nationals, October 7-10. A full week of events, conferences and activities will highlight the economic benefit of motorsports in Texas as well as provide a wide variety of entertainment options for sports fans from across the state and around the country.

“We have been working for the past two years to add more elements to the NHRA Texas FallNationals to make it more than just one of the largest motorsports events in the state,” said Christie Meyer Johnson, Texas Motorplex co-owner and daughter of Motorplex founder Billy Meyer. “We have been studying other major events and the Stampede of Speed will be a full week of events promoting Texas, racing and family entertainment. Our goal is to make this a premier destination sporting event for years to come.”

Plans are in development to host racing themed events throughout the week including a 5K race, BBQ contest and cook-off, a variety of concert events,  business development conferences for track operators from across the country and additional racing events leading up to the 37th annual NHRA Texas FallNationals.
