Ranburne, AL – Casey Spradlin, the 2012 and 2014 NHRA Southeast Division Top Dragster champion, like all other Top Dragster/Top Sportsman racers is excited to be able to strive for an NHRA national championship! “Once NHRA made the announcement that we would have a national championship starting this season, it excited everyone in our classes and we are seeing a bump in participation as well, NHRA gave us a shot in the arm and we are very appreciative of that,” Spradlin says. Spradlin is the driver of the Southeastern Hose backed Top Dragster and Top Sportsman entries.
Spradlin has already kicked off his division title defense in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional events that have taken place in Orlando and Gainesville, Florida in February and March with the teams supercharged 200+ MPH dragster. “We have been to three Lucas Oil divisionals so far, but haven’t performed well at any of them. At the first we qualified #2 with a 212 MPH blast that blew a crack in the head, sending us home early. Thanks to Scott Duggins at P.A.R. Racing Engines we were able to make it back to the second LODRS event just a week later but didn’t make it out of first round, losing a close one at the stripe after some tire shake. At the last event the car slowed again in the second round. So our season has started off on the wrong foot. We have made the necessary repairs and are ready to turn things around at Zmax.”

When the dust settled at the end of the 2014 season, Casey Spradlin and the Southeastern Hose sponsored team from Ranburne, AL, finished at the top of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Southeastern division Hickory Enclosed Trailer Sales Top Dragster championship points battle for the second time in 3 years! Spradlin has had a remarkable run over the past 5 years that has seen the Top Dragster and Top Sportsman driver win Southeast division championships in both IHRA and NHRA competition. The 2009 season started this roll that saw Spradlin win an NHRA national event and four division races, 2 – NHRA and 2 – IHRA, on his way to his first division championship in IHRA.

A footnote to that season is he missed the NHRA championship by just 2 points to Steve Furr. Just three seasons later, Spradlin was able to claim that NHRA championship on the strength of 3 final round appearances, two of which came at the final race of the season in a dramatic come from behind finish because of a rainout makeup. The 2014 championship was no different; Spradlin went into the final race trailing and came out on top with a clutch final round appearance that secured the championship by a scant one point!

Reynolds, GA – After recent double wins in both Top Dragster and Top Sportsman at a NOPI Nationals event, the Spradlin Motorsports team was back in familiar territory at the last NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Southeast Division event of the season at Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds, GA.  The Southeastern Hose backed team carried high momentum into the event and reached the final round in Top Dragster.

“We were really excited to get back to Silver Dollar where we have had a fair amount of success in the past, with a several final rounds appearances and a win,” says Casey Spradlin, team driver of the supercharged ’37 Chevy Coupe Top Sportsman and supercharged rear-engine Top Dragster.

ATLANTA, GA – Spradlin Motorsports, mulit-time division champion Top Dragster and Top Sportsman team, entered into its first NOPI Nationals Supershow at Atlanta Dragway this past weekend and came away with its first “double up,” winning in both classes!

The Southeastern Hose sponsored team decided to make the short trip over to Atlanta Dragway as a last minute add on to their regular NHRA Lucas Oil division schedule to support the growing number of drag racing sanctions that are realizing the fan appeal of the sportsman ranks fastest classes. The NOPI Nationals Supershow has not been the traditional place to find ultrafast door slammers and dragsters. However, for the 2014 events they have added Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, and Pro Modified racing to offer the typical import car fan a peak at what eight cylinder, large cubic inch, full chassis racing looks and sounds like. With all the traffic in the pits and fans in the stands it seems to be a success.

ORLANDO, FL – Spradlin Motorsports, multi-time division champion Top Dragster and Top Sportsman team, recently announced the re-signing of their primary marketing partner, Southeastern Hose. Casey Spradlin, team driver, exclaimed “We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Southeastern Hose and we are very blessed that they continue to support our team. We truly appreciate their support in this tough economic climate and I believe it shows the value our team brings to their marketing and employee relations efforts.”

The re-signing of Southeastern Hose, leaders in the hose assembly and expansion joint industry, is not the only exciting news the team has to report. The off season has been a very busy one for the team as they have replaced the nitrous injected power plant in the ’37 Chevy Coupe Top Sportsman entry with a supercharged methanol burning engine that will bump the power levels from 1300 to 2200 horsepower!
