Sackman Brothers to Race in Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Dragster at NHRA Baby Gators

Hangsterfer’s Laboratories sponsoring brothers for sixth consecutive season

GAINESVILLE, FL – For the sixth consecutive season, brothers Matt and Zach Sackman will race with primary sponsorship from Hangsterfer’s Laboratories, a New Jersey-based metalworking lubricants manufacturer. The Sackman brothers will both make their 2022 season debuts this weekend, March 3-6, at the sixth annual NHRA Baby Gators Division 2 race at Gainesville Raceway, with Matt competing in Top Alcohol Dragster and Zach racing in Top Dragster.

Matt, 28, will drive one of Randy Meyer Racing’s championship-winning A/Fuel dragsters. This will be his fifth season as a part-time driver in the Randy Meyer Racing camp. He’ll also continue to share driving duties of the family’s Sackman Boyz Racing Top Dragster with Zach.

“I’m excited to get back into the seat of one of Randy Meyer’s cars,” Matt said. “I’ll be driving the car I won the Joliet regional in a few years ago. It’s a proven winner with a lot of history. Between the great conditions at Gainesville and Randy’s tuning, I’m sure we’ll run fast. I’m grateful to have Hangsterfer’s on board with us again to help us chase our racing goals while we try to help them expand their business in the motorsports industry on the B2B side.”

Sackman Brothers to Run Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Dragster at NHRA Gatornationals

Hangsterfer’s Laboratories sponsoring brothers for fourth consecutive season

GAINESVILLE, FL – Brothers Matt and Zach Sackman will kick off their fourth consecutive season with primary sponsorship from Hangsterfer’s Laboratories this weekend by competing in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Dragster at the 51st annual NHRA Gatornationals, March 12-15 at Gainesville Raceway.

Matt, 26, will make his second Top Alcohol Dragster national event appearance in one of Randy Meyer Racing’s championship-caliber A/Fuel dragsters. He’ll also perform his role as a short block specialist and bottom end guy on Antron Brown’s Matco Tools Top Fuel dragster.

“I’m excited to race in Gainesville. The track surface is great and we’re at sea level so it’s exciting to know we’ll be able to run fast here,” Matt said. “I’m just excited to be able to race a national event, let alone in an awesome car out of the Randy Meyer camp with backing from Hangsterfer’s. I’ll be driving the car Rachel Meyer drove to victory at the Belle Rose divisional a couple weeks ago, so I feel like we have a good shot to win. Last year in Pomona I went 5.18 at 276 mph. It would be cool to run numbers like that again. Randy has the cars running good and that gives me confidence as a driver.”

While Matt usually only gets to race at NHRA divisional events on his weekends off from the NHRA Mello Yello Series tour, he and the Hangsterfer’s Laboratories executives decided to take advantage of an opportunity to enter Top Alcohol Dragster at the Gatornationals. It’s all part of the company’s goal to get Matt into Top Fuel.

Matt Sackman, Randy Meyer Racing Repeat Route 66 Raceway Regional Event Sweep in Top Alcohol Dragster

JOLIET, IL – For the second year in a row, Chicagoland native Matt Sackman swept the NHRA North Central Region event at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois. Sackman qualified No. 1 in the Novak Electric/Gemini Farms/Hangsterfer’s Laboratories A/Fuel dragster and defeated Troy Coughlin Jr. in the Top Alcohol Dragster final round, claiming car owner and tuner Randy Meyer’s eighth win of the season in the team’s 13th 2019 final round.

“This weekend was pretty much a dream come true,” Sackman, 26, said. “I don’t get to drive an alcohol car very often, so to show up at my home track and drive a Randy Meyer car – he has the best cars in the country right now – it’s pretty incredible. I’m still kind of shocked that the weekend went the way it did. Just looking at the quality of the cars and drivers that were there, I knew it would be tough to repeat the win – and it was tough. We ran three good cars and we were able to take the win.”

Sackman’s 5.297-second pass at 275.67 mph in the first qualifying session put him in the No. 1 spot going into Sunday eliminations, where he started with a 5.407 at 273.77 to defeat Jared Dreher’s 5.468 at 248.43. The Channahon, Illinois, native recorded low ET of the event, 5.281 at 275.73, in his semifinal win over 2014 world champion Chris Demke.

POMONA, CA – Hangsterfer’s Metalworking Lubricants drivers Matt and Zach Sackman both raced to the final round in their respective classes at the season-opening Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals Feb. 11 at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, Calif.

Racing in his first national event, Matt drove the Hangsterfer’s/TMS Titanium/Gemini Farms A/Fuel dragster to the Top Alcohol Dragster final round, while Zach posted a runner-up finish in Top Dragster in the Hangsterfer’s blown alcohol dragster.

“This was a fantastic start to the 2019 season,” said Matt, 25. “Obviously, we both wanted to win the race, but we’re pretty happy with the way the weekend went, that’s for sure.”

“It was a great points day for me,” said Zach, 23, who finished sixth in the 2018 NHRA Top Dragster national points standings. “This will more than likely be one of my claims, so I’m happy with the finish. Matt did a pretty good job going to the final round at his first national event. Overall it was an awesome weekend.”

Competing in just his fourth Top Alcohol Dragster event, Matt and the Randy Meyer-tuned Hangsterfer’s entry qualified No. 2 after ripping off a 5.181-second pass at 276.52 mph in the first session and smoking the tires in the second session. The third session was canceled due to rainy weather.

Matt Sackman Celebrates No. 1 Qualifier Award, Event Win in Top Alcohol Dragster Debut

JOLIET, IL – Matt Sackman entered last weekend’s Burndown at Sundown at Route 66 Raceway with just a handful of Top Alcohol Dragster passes under his belt. Late Sunday evening, he left the event with five additional passes, the No. 1 qualifier award and the NHRA North Central Region event victory.

“To be able to qualify No. 1 and win the race in my debut is pretty unbelievable,” said Sackman, a cylinder head specialist on Don Schumacher Racing’s Antron Brown-driven Matco Tools/U.S. Army Top Fuel dragster. “It definitely shows there’s light at the end of the tunnel, that all of the hard work is worth it. This opportunity will hopefully lead to more opportunities in the future. I’m just very fortunate that everything worked out the way it did.”

Driving one of the potent Randy Meyer Racing entries, Sackman, 25, kicked off his Top Alcohol Dragster debut Friday evening with a 5.26-second pass at 275 mph. A strong 5.31 at 274 mph followed during Saturday’s rain-shortened qualifying, but it was the first pass that held up for the top spot out of the 13 cars trying to qualify for the eight-car field.

Sackman will drive the Meyer-built Randy Meyer Racing entry typically fielded by Justin Ashley, who sits in the No. 11 spot in the NHRA Lucas Oil Series national points standings with a regional event victory at Virginia in April.

Zach Sackman Drives Hangsterfer’s Top Dragster to First NHRA National Event Win

JOLIET, IL – As a resident of nearby Channahon, Ill., Zach Sackman couldn’t have possibly imagined a better time or place to earn his first NHRA national event win than at the 20th annual Fallen Patriots NHRA Route 66 Nationals presented by K&N at Route 66 Raceway. The 21-year-old picked up his first Top Dragster Wally when he defeated Shanna Snyder in the final, using a holeshot advantage to secure the victory.

“It’s pretty surreal to win my first national event here,” Sackman said. “I grew up coming to the races here, so to earn my first win in the Hangsterfer’s Top Dragster here is pretty overwhelming.”

Sackman qualified fifth in the 30-car Top Dragster field with a 6.131-second elapsed time at 225.67 mph. He used superior reaction times and consistent passes to defeat Bob Mandell II, Steve Furr, Madison Ellison and Lynn Ellison before facing Snyder in the final round. While Sackman slowed to a 6.206 from his 6.08 dial-in, his .020-second reaction time was enough to defeat the 6.262 of Snyder, who dialed a 6.23.
