Pro Stock points leader Brogdon races to Gainesville semifinals
GAINESVILLE. FL – Another NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series race, another semifinal for Pro Stock points leader Rodger Brogdon.
Brogdon advanced to the semifinals for the third time in three races in 2015 by winning two rounds at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals on Sunday at Auto-Plus Raceway. He continues to lead the points standings in what is becoming his best season as a professional.
“It says a lot that I’m disappointed not going past the semifinals,” Brogdon said. “But my guys work hard and deserve to win races, and when you do that once, you just want to keep doing it. It’s been a great year so far, and we all want to keep it up.”
Pro Stock points leader Brogdon continues momentum at Gatornationals
GAINESVILLE, FL – NHRA Pro Stock points leader Rodger Brogdon carries momentum and a No. 3 qualifying spot into final eliminations of the Amalie Motor Oil Gatornationals on Sunday at Auto-Plus Raceway.
Brogdon snared the No. 3 spot with a top pass of 6.526 seconds at 212.93 mph, but his Rodger Brogdon Racing Chevrolet has been amazingly consistent this weekend in Gainesville.
“We have a really good car,” Brogdon said. “We haven’t made a killer run yet during qualifying but we’ve been consistent. We have four good, solid runs down the track, so we’re very much looking forward to tomorrow.”
Points leader Brogdon hopes to extend the gap with second season win
GAINESVILLE, FL – Heading into the NHRA Gatornationals atop the points standings after capturing a win in Phoenix, Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon finally feels like he is back at the top of his game.
“When I started out racing, I ran Competition Eliminator because I knew that every time I left my office I was one of the guys to beat at every race,” Brogdon said. “All I know is I’ve got the feeling again. Don’t get me wrong though, in Pro Stock you can be on top one race and behind the next. I’m going to enjoy this feeling while I can and hopefully it continues through Gainesville.”
Starting off 2015 unsure of his racing plans for the upcoming season, Brogdon quickly made a tentative plan to compete at a few races and see where his Rodger Brogdon Racing team’s performance stacked up. He has already recording a win, a semifinal appearance, and two top-three qualifying efforts in two races, so the hard work and determination that was put into his Chevrolet Camaro has been evident.

Drag racer Brogdon conquers reigning champ to score big win in Phoenix
PHOENIX, AZ – Pro Stock veteran Rodger Brogdon scored the biggest victory of his professional career Sunday, defeating reigning world champion Erica Enders-Stevens by 14 feet in the final round of the 31st annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park.
It was the second time Brogdon has beaten his Houston neighbor in the final round of a national event but the first time since Enders-Stevens won the Pro Stock world title last year. Both racers are powered by Elite Performance engines, the main sponsor of Enders-Stevens’ team.
“We’ve both got fast race cars and it was an exciting race,” said Brogdon, who moved into the points lead with the win. “That’s such a great group over there at Elite, and Erica is the champion and we’re all very proud of her. Beating that girl isn’t easy, I can promise you that. She’s had my number most of the times we’ve raced, but I just found out that we’re 2-0 against her in final rounds, so I guess that balances it out a bit.
Brogdon’s Phoenix luck is running hot after qualifying
PHOENIX, AZ – The odds of Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon leaving Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park with a Wally are growing in his favor after securing the No. 2 starting position in qualifying for the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals.
“We’ve had four good runs the entire weekend so far,” Brogdon said. “Now we just need a few more when it counts. In the last qualifying session we tried something out, but the car didn’t like it at all. We still feel pretty good going into tomorrow though despite that. We’ll just go back to our original data and try again.”
Heading into the first round of final eliminations Sunday looking to turn on the win lights, Brogdon will line up his Rodger Brogdon Racing Chevrolet against No. 15 Deric Kramer’s Dodge Dart.
Looking for redemption, Brogdon hopeful for another Phoenix win
PHOENIX, AZ – This weekend’s NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series stop at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park has Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon excited about getting another win in the Valley of the Sun.
“I got my first Sportsman win at this track, and we ran good there in preseason testing, so we’re ready,” Brogdon said. “I like everything about Phoenix. Plus, there’s a casino real close by and that’s always fun.”
Brogdon encouraged by Pomona’s semifinal appearance
POMONA, CA – Rodger Brogdon has already put this weekend’s Circle K NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona in his rearview mirror after a strong semifinal performance.
Brogdon had a terrific weekend with his Rodger Brogdon Racing Chevrolet, qualifying No. 3 and winning two rounds. A semifinal defeat to eventual race winner Jason Line stung because both drivers ran the same elapsed time, with Line getting the win with a better reaction time.
“We’ll do better in two weeks,” Brogdon said. “We’ve got a hot rod and we’ve got a car that can win. That might make (today) a little worse but it’s a long, long season. It won’t be the last time we make a mistake. It’s bad but I’ll be over it in about 20 minutes.”
Brogdon starts strong, qualifies No. 3 for season opener in Pomona
POMONA, CA – Rodger Brogdon is optimistic he can have a big day at the season-opening Pro Stock race after qualifying his Rodger Brogdon Racing Chevrolet in the No. 3 spot for the Circle K NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.
That’s his best qualifying effort since he started No. 2 in Norwalk, Ohio, in 2011.
“I’ve got a fast car,” Brogdon said. “With a break or two, I can win the race. That’s what we’re trying to do.”
Brogdon’s pass of 6.524 seconds at 212.33 mph trailed only 2014 Pro Stock champion Erica Enders-Stevens and last year’s title runner-up Jason Line. That bodes well for Brogdon, who will face Deric Kramer in the first round Sunday.
Nostalgic Brogdon readies for a fast weekend in Pomona
POMONA, CA – Looking to get the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season underway, Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon has been putting down test passes in preparation for the Circle K NHRA Winternationals, Feb. 5-8, at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.
“It was great getting in my first run of the year yesterday even though it wasn’t the best,” Brogdon said. “It just felt good to finally get back in the car even though it was only testing. I’m just ready to be in Pomona and start racing.
