Pro Stock Veteran Rodger Brogdon Excited for Full-Time Return Starting at NHRA Winternationals

POMONA, CA – Fresh off an extremely productive test session and preparing to race for just the second time since the 2015 NHRA season, Pro Stock veteran Rodger Brogdon has just one goal in mind when he returns behind the wheel at this weekend’s Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals.

“I just want to go out there and not have it look like I haven’t been out there the last 3-4 years,” Brogdon said with a laugh. “That’s going to be all on me because there’s a great group of guys around me. But as long as we run like we did last weekend we’ll be fine.”

Those series of runs came at the preseason test session in Phoenix, where Brogdon, who has three career Pro Stock wins, put together a series of strong passes in a Chevy Camaro driven last year by Elite Motorsports teammate and two-time world champ Erica Enders.

Brogdon went as quick as 6.542 at 210 mph, which were impressive numbers for a team led by his longtime tuner, Pete Smallwood, and Brian “Lump” Self.

Drag racing heartbreak for Houston’s own Rodger Brogdon

HOUSTON, TX – Veteran drag racer and hometown hero Rodger Brogdon of nearby Tomball knows that races can Brogdon Racingsometimes be won or lost on the starting line. That lesson was reinforced Sunday morning during the opening round of racing at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA SpringNationals when, despite running an identical elapsed time as his opponent, Jonathan Gray, a speedy 6.565, he came up inches short at the finish line due to Gray’s .031-second reaction-time advantage.

“It was darn close but as a driver there is very little that feels as bad as than losing on a holeshot,” Brogdon said. “The guys obviously had the car set up properly, and Elite Performance once again gave us the horsepower to win the race, but the driver didn’t do his job this time.

Local legend Rodger Brogdon ready to nail down NHRA victory in his ‘backyard’

HOUSTON, TX – It could be argued that Pro Stock veteran Rodger Brogdon has made more passes down Royal Roger Brogdon - HoustonPurple Raceway than any other professional driver in the NHRA. That’s because the Tomball native lives and works in the Greater Houston area and routinely tests at the venerable facility in nearby Baytown.

Now, the owner of the city’s top roofing contractor, RoofTec, is hoping his breadth of track knowledge yields a big win in front of his friends, family, and throng of vocal supporters packing the grandstands at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA SpringNationals.

“It would take a while to add up all the runs we’ve made down this dragstrip,” Brogdon said. “Between the many years I raced at the Sportsman level on through to my time as a pro, plus add in all the testing we’ve done — gosh, it’s got to be in the thousands. I sure feel comfortable out there. It’s like my own backyard.”

Rodger Brogdon promises to be more aggressive at home in Houston

HOUSTON – Houston native Rodger Brogdon and his Rodger Brogdon Racing team will come out swinging in the Brogdon RacingO’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Spring Nationals this weekend at Royal Purple Raceway.

Brogdon started the 2015 Pro Stock season strong, winning in Phoenix and going to the semifinals in Pomona and Gainesville, but after stubbing his toe in Charlotte and Las Vegas, he is ready to return to his aggressive nature in Houston.

“We were good at the first two races, and we qualified well and went to the semi’s at the Gatornationals,” Brogdon said. “Charlotte, we didn’t do very well. We only had one decent run and the transmission broke first round. In Vegas, we didn’t run as good as we could, either.

Rodger Brogdon’s quick first-round pass not enough to advance in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – Rodger Brogdon rolled triple sixes in the first round of the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals on Brogdon RacingSunday at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but it was far from lucky.

Brogdon’s pass of 6.669 seconds at 207.53 mph wasn’t enough to beat Vincent Nobile, who was lightning quick off the starting line to get to the second round.

Nobile had a .018-second reaction time, getting a .050-second jump on Brogdon. Nobile’s pass of 6.677 seconds at 207.18 mph was enough to hold Brogdon off.

Rodger Brogdon’s gamble is paying off with fast start in 2015

LAS VEGAS, NV – Rodger Brogdon is ready to bounce back from a tough race in Charlotte and return to the form Roger Brogdon - Charlotte that netted him one victory and the Pro Stock points lead at this weekend’s SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Brogdon won the race in Phoenix and raced to the semifinals in Pomona and Gainesville to lead the Pro Stock points standings, but he and his Rodger Brogdon Racing team struggled in Charlotte, losing in the first round after a broken transmission forced them to abort the run.

“It would’ve been hard to win that round anyway because we were in there with a tough group,” said Brogdon, who is second in the points standings, 43 behind good friend Jason Line. “That Charlotte race is like you’re starting in the second round. There are no easy cars, starting with the first round.

Battling the elements, Rodger Brogdon has head held high for Charlotte eliminations

CHARLOTTE, NC – Rodger Brogdon, who entered the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals with the Pro Stock points lead, Roger Brogdon - Charlottehad to fight through minor adversity during qualifying.

With rain shortening the weekend’s schedule to only two qualifying sessions, Brogdon feels confident that he has a pretty good idea of what to expect for Sunday’s eliminations.

“It’s really not a good thing anywhere to lose two passes down the track but especially here because you don’t get a shot to run all the lanes,” Brogdon said. “The general consensus, though, from today is that lanes three and four are the best lanes. That may change tomorrow, but either way I’m going to do my best.”

Pro Stock points leader Brogdon ready for Four-Wide challenge

CHARLOTTE (March 25) — For NHRA Pro Stock points leader Rodger Brogdon, this weekend’s NHRA Four-Wide Brogdon RacingNationals is all about confidence.

Because of the unique nature of the event — racing four lanes instead of the traditional two — drivers in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series face an uncommon set of circumstances, but for Brogdon, one of those isn’t performance.

Brogdon and his Rodger Brogdon Racing team have won at least two rounds at all three races this season, including in Phoenix, where they were victorious.
