ACDC Tribute band featured at upcoming Night of Champions Banquet

PMRA, Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and PBSS drag racers and teams to be honored at annual presentation

CAYUGA, ON – This year’s Night of Champions Championship Point Award Series Banquet for the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), PMRA-10th-logosmthe Quick 32 Sportsman Series and the Pro Bike & Sled Series (PBSS) will feature the popular ACDC ROCKS for entertainment.

The Pro Modified Racing Association Countdown to the 2014 Championship

Bruce Boland – Second Place

CAYUGA, ON – Vying for his fourth championship in Pro Modified Racing Association competition, Bruce Boland had to settle for second place Bruce Boland - Grand Bendby the smallest of margins for the 2014 Championship Point Award Series.

Boland, of Stoney Creek, Ontario, finished only three points behind champion Jeff Roth of New Dundee, Ontario this year. Driving the B&B Racing 1968 Pontiac Firebird-bodied Pro Modified, Boland led the points most of the year, starting with a win in the season opener at the Grand Bend Motorplex.

Although that was his best finish, he did take a pair of runner-ups in 2014, and was always a threat. His car is capable of quarter-mile times under six seconds with speeds of 235 mph.

Sitting in the Vanishing Point Race Cars chassis is a 526-cubic inch ERD Supercharged Hemi, fueled by a Fuel System: Waterman System with input from Jon Salemi, and a Chuck Ford Hammer – Roots Supercharger. A Lenco three-speed transmission sits behind the engine.

The team’s crew consists of Brad Short, Roger Jongerden, Tim Hoffman and Robbie Cesario.

The Pro Modified Racing Association Countdown to the 2014 Championship

Hawker Racing – Third Place

CAYUGA, ON – Placing third in the 2014 Pro Modified Racing Association Championship Point Award Series was Derek Hawker with his 1968 Pontiac Firebird.

The journeyman racer, who hails from Corbyville Ontario, qualified for all PMRA events this season with the Hawker Racing Pro Modified, a car which produced numbers in the low six-second range at speeds of 230 mph down the quarter-mile. His best showing in 2014 was a semi-finalist position at US 131 in Martin Michigan.

Power for the Firebird comes from a 526 cubic-inch BAE engine with a PSI D Screw Supercharger and a Billes fuel system. A Lenco three-speed is attached to the powerplant, and all this sits in a Vanishing Point Race Cars product.

The Pro Modified Racing Association Countdown to the 2014 Championship

Kalso Motorsports – Fourth Place

CAYUGA, ON – Driving the Kalso Motorsports 1971 Barracuda Pro Modified in 2014, Jason Kalso recorded his best season finish to date in Pro Kalso MotorsportsModified Racing Association competition, taking fourth in the championship points race.

The PMRA celebrated its 10th season of racing in 2014.

After a pair of first-round finishes early in the season, Kalso, from Clarkston, Michigan, motored to semi-finalist positions later in the season. The Cuda is capable of running in the low six-second range with speeds of about 230 mph down the quarter-mile.

The G-Force Race Cars product is powered by 521-cubic inch BAE Hemi, supercharged, with a DMPE fuel system and Kobelco 14-71 M5 supercharger. A Lenco three-speed sits behind the engine.

The Pro Modified Racing Association Countdown to the 2014 Championship

The Grainy Brothers – Fifth Place

CAYUGA, ON – Taking fifth spot in the 2014 Pro Modified Racing Association Championship Point Award Series was The Grainy Brothers, Grainy Brotherslong-time PMRA racers from Western New York.

With Jack driving and his brother Sonny as crew chief, the team started its season well with a final round showing at Grand Bend, losing in the final to former PMRA champion Bruce Boland of Stoney Creek, Ontario.

Driving the 1967 Chevy Camaro Pro Modified, the team struggled a bit with the rest of the season, but did qualify for several events and made some rounds. The G-Force Race Cars product is powered by a Mike Stawicki Racing 521-cubic inch Brad Anderson (BAE) Supercharged Hemi coupled to a Lenco three-speed with a PSI screw supercharger. The car is capable of running the quarter-mile in the low six-second range at speeds of over 200 mph.

FREDY SCRIBA WINS SECOND ANNUAL NEOPMA SUPERCHARGERS SHOWDOWN INTERNATIONAL PRO MOD CHALLENGE AT MARYLAND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY

Mechanicsville, MD – The Second Annual International Pro Mod Challenge was an overwhelming success with 33 pro mods in attendance, FREDY SCRIBAseveral cars running in the 5.90’s and quicker and many more running in the 6.0 range. 2012 [NEOPMA] Champion Fredy Scriba and the “Sorcerer Team” had their 63’ Pro Mod Corvette ready for action and proved it with an impressive 5.91 personal best ET and win at the second annual “International Pro Mod Challenge” at Maryland International Raceway this past weekend. Fred’s consistency was awesome, and Team USA take the Title back from Canada at the Pro Mod Challenge’s second event.

The weather all weekend was perfect. Team USA had their Pro Mods ready for action. Fredy Scriba and Steve Drummond moved through the field with impressive runs, with their best times of eliminations a 5.91 for Fredy in the finals, and a 6:01 for Steve in the second round. Other highlights included Matt Deitsch running for the first time in 2014 went a 6:08, Steve Assenmacher ran a 6.13 with a 738CI nitrous motor. The shot heard around the web was Robert Patrick running a 5.81 and setting the MIR track ET record.

PMRA teams preparing for no-holds-barred shootout in Maryland

CAYUGA, ON – The Pro Modified Racing Association is gearing up for a return to Maryland later this month for the second annual International Pro Mod Challenge at the SuperChargers Showdown.

Billed as Canada versus the USA, the PMRA Pro Modifieds will take to the track at Maryland International Raceway in Mechanicsville, MD for a return showdown with the Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Association September 26-27.

This is a non-points event. The regular PMRA season has been completed.

Jeff Roth wins first PMRA Pro Modified Championship at Grand Bend

GRAND BEND, ON– Roth Racing had a big reason to celebrate over the Labor Day weekend.
Roth RacingThe team won its first Pro Modified Racing Association championship, but the title was not decided until driver Jeff Roth piloted his 1941 Willys Pro Modified to a victory in the final round of PMRA racing for 2014 at the Grand Bend Motorplex.
Roth had been in second place for most of the season behind three-time PMRA champ Bruce Boland, and the team knew they had to win the final race to slip ahead of the veteran Stoney Creek Ontario racer.
We battled with the car all day, said Roth, who hails from New Dundee, Ontario. But the team worked hard and it all came together.

2014 Championships Crowned; Roth in PMRA, Schmid in Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and Cryderman in PBSS

GRAND BEND, ON – Going into the Thunder by the Beach race weekend at the Grand Bend Motorplex over the weekend, Jeff Rothchampionship titles were on the line as racers took to the quarter mile in the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series.

This was the final event of 2014 for all three series.

And when the tire smoke had settled late Sunday afternoon, 2014 season champions were declared in all three drag race series, two titles by the smallest of margins.

Going into this event, perennial PMRA racer Jeff Roth was second in Championship Point Award Series behind Bruce Boland. Roth, who qualified number three with his 1941 Willys Pro Modified, knew he and his team had to win the event to capture the championship.
